Navigator - Internet In My Cabin?

Recommended Posts

Leaving in about 10 days to sail on Navigator, if I bring my Laptop, will there be Internet Connection I can Connect to or do I HAVE to use the Internet Café?

Thank you in advance, I have not sailed on this Class of Ship before.

Navigator has not yet been updated to pervasive WiFi, so there will only be about a half-dozen WiFi hotspots about the ship. You will have to use the Internet Cafe once to establish a wireless account, and then you can use your laptop at one of the wireless hotspots.

A lot depends on your room location as I found out by accident. I had an inside above the promenade; there must have been a hotspot underneath as I could blog from my room! That was lucky. There will be a leaflet in Guest Services with all the information you need to get connected.

This thread has pics of the initial log in screens.

Thanks. I have called them twice and they have told me that the Internet Cafe is not a hotspot, that the nearest hotspot is on deck 5. Didn't make sense to me.

Hi there

I was on NOS 3 weeks ago; there are approx 5 wifi hotspots. The one on deck 5 is the promenade cafe. There is supposed to be one at the solarium but whilst my iPad 'found' it, it was a poor signal so never connected properly. Another good one was in the lounge on deck 12 (that overlooks the centre of the ship - sorry cant remember name!).

Just make sure you have the RCI log off page; the first time I connected the log off page didn't load so I ended up rushing to Guest Services for help! The very nice man got it sorted & credited my account for that one use. :D

Is there WiFi in the Internet Cafe area?

Shhhhh, not many people know this: some cabins near the elevators get wifi. Sometimes you have to leave the door open a couple of inches. Sometimes in port you can get wifi on your balcony. At the Internet cafe is a good place to test your wifi log on/off so you can swipe your card again if something goes wrong. There is a URL to type into the address on your browser (if you have an iPad )in order to log off. No matter where you are wifi is weak and slow at peak use times. The best time for wifi (IMHO) during normal waking hours is dinner time. Half the guests are eating and most of the other half are at shows or bars. Same with the casino. One sure way to find a good spot in public areas is look for someone logged on. enjoy :)
