JW, can I borrow your earrings sometime?

Sherry

Promise, I will have them in April on the Eclipse. You can borrow them anytime except the second formal night when I wear my Vintage 1973 Purple Tuxedo pictured!

As for everyone else. I am working diligently on the next chapter. It's A Comin' today!

Hey JW, I was just looking at reviews on Celebrity Reflection on the main page. Just saw a review from our sailing where they were complaining about Tuscan also. Hopefully enough folks will see the poor review of the service and remove Godzilla.

On a positive note though, I wanted to mention that my husband and I had sailed on Solistice back in 2009 during her inaugural season. There were 2 crew members that we ran into on Reflection that had served us on Solstice and REMEMBERED us. One was our MDR waiter, he even remembered where we sat and our son that was with us on that trip. The other was a bartender who kept us entertained at the Martini Bar on Solstice, he was now providing bar service around the pool. Amazing, actually! Just another testament to Celebrity and the level of service they provide to their customers. They apparently are very good to their employees as well since it has been several years since they served us on Solstice, yet they still remain with the company and continue serving with a smile.

“Tap, Tap, Tap Tap!” “Ahh, music to my ears”, I said to Jerome, as I sailed across our room anxious to open the door! “Good Morning Corazon!” “Good Morning Mr. JW, Mr. Jerome, How are you this morning?” She graciously asked, as she brought in our usual pile-up of Room Service Breakfast. She had only one tray full of plates, and turned to me and said “Eating Lite this morning?” “Ha!” I let out a burst of a single laugh, “Corazon you are too funny!” “As a matter of fact”, I continued, “We are going to be having a big lunch today on St Kitts so I want to save some room!” “Ahh, I see”, Corazon said. “Where are you having lunch?” Jerome answered, “At the new Carrambola Beach Club in South Friars Bay” Corazon said to Jerome “Oh yes, I have heard many good things about it” “You will enjoy it, I know”. “Enjoy your breakfast and Happy Anniversary!” Corazon said as she left our room.

“Anniversary?” “How did she know?” I asked Jerome. He said, “JW, with you, Trouble, no telling what EVERYONE knows!” “Well the only person I mentioned it to was on the phone to Hailey at Celebrity Corporate Guest Services before we sailed.“ “She sent that bottle of Champagne on the embarkation day.” I said, pointing to the bottle with the lovely Anniversary Card (which we had not enjoyed yet, as I was drinking so much of it up on deck with Hat Lady and the 1,2,3 Drunk program.)

It was just a few minutes after 7 AM. I was so excited about St Kitts, so much so, that we were up, showered and dressed, all ready to go! We wanted to be eating breakfast as we arrived and docked, on time, by the way at 8 AM. Then wanted to disembark ASAP, as we had to meet up with Liz Pereira, of Pereira Tours, at 9 AM. The excitement was building as I was eating my bacon, and we watched on our balcony as we were drawing nearer and nearer to the Port of St Kitts. I wasn’t paying attention, which is quite often for me, and I spilled my fresh squeezed Orange Juice all over my brand new “St Kitts Wear” outfit that I just bought! Gosh Dang it!

Jerome was like, “Trouble, you have to be more careful and pay attention!” I sarcastically said, wiping myself off “Oh Shut Up!” Then I said, “Yada, Yada, Yada” Jerome said, “Okay Seinfeld, just get out of the shirt and bathing shorts and I can rinse them in the sink and they should dry by the time we get off the boat”. I obliged, and went back to my seat on the balcony, buck ass nekid.

Jerome came back and said, “JW!, What are you doing?” “You are Naked on the Balcony!” “We are coming into Port for Krisakes, Get in here!” He relentlessly continued, “Someone may see you!, Are You Drunk?” (Why does it always come down to ME being Drunk? It‘s 7:45 AM for Goodness Sakes! I am usually Not drunk until at least 10 AM on a cruise!) “Jerome, lighten up!” I said, “Who is going to see me?” Jerome sternly said, “JW, it’s a clear glass balcony, no one wants to see that Old Coochie!” “Now get your lily white ass in here now!” I said, “Heck, Europeans are out here all the time Naked, remember that guy on the ship in Tortola?” Jerome stated, “JW, two things I have to say about that“ , he continued, “One, he was European, which you are not, and Two, He was Cute.“

“Well, Happy Anniversary to you too!” “Ya biotch!” I said as I sauntered and sashayed into the stateroom like I was Mr. Floppy Hat Long Schlong at Orient Beach in St Martin!

The Celebrity Reflection arriving at the Dock at St Kitts. "JW get your Lily White ass in here now!"

I felt as though my brand new outfit was already worn once, and now it was just one of the “This Old Thing?” pieces of my wardrobe. No worries, we got off the ship at 8:45 AM and it was sort of cloudy, but no matter, nothing was going to interfere with our day! Besides, in the Caribbean, if you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes, it will change. I was so looking forward to the Carrambola Beach Club! I had planned and planned and scoured the internet for pictures. It’s definitely a “Dream About” sort of Beach Club. Oh wait till I show you the pictures. AH-Mazing!

We made our way to the fairly new Port Zante shopping area. I have to say overall, St Kitts was a fascinating island and I am glad to have the chance to go there. This was our relaxation port and we were not disappointed. When we return again next year, we will be doing the exact same excursion.

“Hi Liz!” I said as we walked up to her at our pre-arranged meeting site outside the “Smoke and Booze” Duty Free Shop. (The S & B shop has good prices, but Friendly's Duty Free in St Martin was much better. Although there was a better selection of Cuban Cigars here, from what people told Jerome and I) Liz outstretched her arms and gave me a big hug. “JW! I have been so looking forward to meeting you!” Liz said and then turned to Jerome saying “Jerome, what a pleasure!” I paid Liz $40.00 for our transportation to and from Carrambola Beach Club for the day, as well as a special stop over at, of course, The Catholic Church. You know the drill already! We stop at every island’s Catholic Church. The St Thomas Catholic Church in St Kitts did not disappoint us at all, absolutely gorgeous. (I Know with all these islands, that can get confusing, but the church is called St Thomas')

Then something that I was warned about on Cruise Critic happened!

A man with lots of monkeys entangled about him, came up so fast, behind Jerome, and put two of the monkey's on Jerome without his permission. I mean, what if he was allergic to them? Anyway, one of the monkeys stay on Jerome's neck, it was just a baby, and the other is on his arm. The guy says, “Hey Mon, give me your camera, I take your picture Mon”. Jerome is not liking this at all and says politely “Can you please get these guys off of me?” “What’s a matter Mon?” “Dun like my Children Mon?” Jerome, not being rude, says “Please, take these guys off of me, I don’t want a picture!” You know me, I goad the guy on, “How much for the Picture?” The Monkey Guy says, “Twenty” Jerome says “JW, stop it” “Get these off of me!” Jerome sticks out his arm that the monkey was sitting on, and it then hangs upside down, swinging merrily on his arm by it’s tail! “Oh look at the baby!” I say. “JW” “Stop!” Oh, Jerome is getting peeved. “Thank you so much, but no thanks”, I said “If he wants something to hang off his arm and be photographed, it’s gonna be me!!" The guy didn't get it but Liz sure did, and she chuckled along with me, to Jerome's sneer!

Well no sooner than I said that, there was another guy who pulled a similar trick with his monkeys on another couple nearby. Well they took a picture, but then were flabbergasted at the gall of the monkey man wanting to charge them twenty bucks for the picture, and they did not want to pay. That monkey guy actually went over to a Police man and the Police told the couple they would have to at least pay $5. That is not very nice, but I figured, what are you going to do when the population of St Kitts is two to one Monkeys vs. Humans. No kidding. Monkeys outnumber Humans on the Island. Oh MY!

So here is our Monkey Guy, removing the first monkey from Jerome’s arm, when just like “On Cue” because we didn't anti up for the price of the photo, the monkey on the back of Jerome's neck, POOPS! Right down the back of Jerome’s new St Kitts outfit! Yes! I loved it! Paybacks are a Biotch!

Fortunately there was a restroom nearby and I could take care of Jerome's shirt, only Jerome did not get "naked" at the port. I reminded him that he was NOT European and the European on the Balcony was Cute, as well. “JW you’re an ass!” He said so very kindly.

After a short walk thru the newly built port shopping area, I noticed that several shops had closed up, especially one that I had a coupon for. "Fat Tuesday’s!" Everyone’s favorite Adult Slushy Beverage Bar had closed up shop! They were still advertising it on the ship, and it was closed!? “Liz, when did they close?” I asked, as we walked by a shuttered Fat Tuesday’s. She said “About six months ago.” “It was a shame, but we are not St Thomas, and we only get a couple of cruise ships a week, the locals would not support a place like that, and it’s a shame“. "There's a similar bar at the Casino, when you are about to go thru Customs to board your ship" Casino, I thought? Casino? Hmmm, better give that consideration when we return to the port! “Fat Tuesday's was a fun place to go.” She said, as I agreed, but I still had my coupon and I was disappointed!

What I did notice, was a very secure Police Presence, and that made me feel very safe and secure. I tend to forget, that once I am aboard a ship, and other than in St Thomas or San Juan, every other port is a Foreign Country. It’s not the same as being the comfort of the USA. Different Laws and Customs. Yes these countries want the American Tourist Dollar, and will protect us for that tourism dollar, but to the extent of Their Laws. “Trouble” did not break any laws here, no sir. No Laws at all!

Before I post the rest of the pics from the Beginning of St Kitts, I need to add a disclaimer. My Original "St Kitts Wear" Outfit, was not dry and I could not wear it, and the Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice did not come out after Jerome rinsed it in the sink. I was forced to resort to Emergency "Wear", that one extra outfit, just in case, and I was not Happy.

The Port Shopping Area is quite impressive, goes off in several different directions. It really is very nice.

Remind me to tell you about THIS place on the left when we returned to the Port Shopping Area.....Oh My Gawd....The real thing, well maybe, right next door to Counterfeits! I guess all perfectly legal in St Kitts!

Gorgeous shopping street with amazing Cultural Performers. They unfortunately did not to an afternoon show as the weather was not cooperating.

Look at the size of The Celebrity Reflection compared to the buildings at the Port. She is magnificent!

Jerome got in trouble by taking this same picture in the next post, but close up. A lot of trouble with the Police. Ha Ha! Paybacks......

Beautiful shot of the Brand Spanking New Celebrity Reflection, but came with a price. In the previous post pic of the Reflection, you saw rocks and a sign. Well the sign says "Under Penalty of Law" "DO NOT CLIMB THE ROCKS!" Jerome apparently had trouble reading English, so he climbed the rocks for this flawless picture. Jerome got in trouble with the Po-Po or the Po-Leece!

408550_4495515320387_491168272_n.jpg

"Sir, you come on down from the rocks!" I heard a Police Officer say to Jerome. "Sir, come down right now!" Jerome turned and said "What?" "I can't hear a word you're saying?" He came off the rocks and the Po-Leese showed him the "Sign" that forbade "Climbing On The Rocks" and he was incredibly apologetic and remorseful, they let him go. The thought of Jerome in an Island prison having to back up into the faucet after he dropped the soap was intriguing, but I would rather have him home, than not. So happily, the St Kitts Officer let him go....although, the thought did linger.............hmmm. Paybacks.

The best part is, look at the first picture he took, there is a big sign telling anyone interested that "climbing the rocks are not a nice thing to do"! The Police may intervene if you do. He did, they did. I guess Jerome could not read Island-speak! So that being said, he got in trouble, and this Trouble went to the Casino at the Port! Yes I did!

I totally agree. Next time we will go back to South Friars and Carambola as well. It is a beautiful spot. Glad you had a good day .... can't wait for your photos.

Did you like my friend Liz JW? We stayed in St. Kitts for 2 weeks quite a few years ago and chatted with Liz on a website when she lived in Canada. She moved down to St. Kitts a few years ago and opened her own tour company and is doing so well. On a cruise last year we finally met her after years of chatting. She is so nice! Also I am glad you did not get a picture of the monkey and stood your ground. Those poor monkeys...they are wild animals and should be left alone in the wild. Go see them at the different beach areas as they are all around. I feel so bad for the poor little guys. Glad you didn't encourage them. Now I am looking forward to your St. Kitts write-up JW as I love this island! Can't wait to hear all about your day!

I'm with Jerome on this one. I didn't brush up on what to expect our first time in St. Kitts so, out of the blue, someone tried to put a little Wizard of Oz monkey on me. I guess I was somewhat lucky because that particular monkey had a diaper on. Unfortunately, that's what sticks in my mind about St. Kitts. I look forward to your Beach Club review so I can plan my next excursion (away from the monkeys!).

I agree about the monkeys. First of all it is cruel to take the babies away from their mamas. But as soon as we go through the entrance I remind my husband to steer as far away from the handlers as possible every time we've been in St Kitts. I never want to have one on me!

And we love Carambola when we were there in April. Can't wait to read your review!

I also have to agree on the monkeys. We had a monkey photo op in Mexico. The animal LOVED my DS but was hissing at my DD. She was crushed and now has a fear of monkeys.

This is the first I heard of the monkey games in St. Kitts and I've been checking the forum for that port the past two months and never heard this mentioned. I will definitely let my traveling mates know about this in January.

I have subscribed to a St. Kitts website for years and they are asking that cruisers ignore the people with the monkeys at the Port so that maybe they will stop and let them go back to the wild where they belong. It is not right to treat them like that!

Seeing those monkeys really upset me the day we were there. I wanted to tell the guy that approached us what I really thought but wasn't sure how he would react so I just said "No, thanks".

I would liked to have seen Celebrity mention avoiding the 'monkey men' in it's daily news sheet.
