Heathrow -> Southampton w/ Wheelchair

I need to travel from Heathrow to Southhampton end of July with a powered wheelchair. I need to remain seated in the wheelchair during the trip.

National Express say that they are unable to accommodate the wheelchair (Permobil M400) because they are unable to secure it properly on board.

However, the wheelchair fits within the 'reference wheelchair size' described here:

http://www.ricability.org.uk/consumer_reports/mobility_reports/wheels_within_wheels/

so I don't see how they can say no without breaking the law.

What are my options, is there any other way to travel from Heathrow to Southampton with a powered wheelchair?

Not all national express coaches are compliant yet, and so far only 30 routes have accesable coaches. All coaches will comply by 2020 and this is perfectly within the law.

I am not allowed to name the specialist service which does exactly what you are looking for, but if you are in the UK, Google " airport transfer wheelchair", the first page of results should put you in touch with the company based in Guildford, Surrey. All the best.

CC rules state that you cannot name/discuss travel agents; other service providers (hotels, transport companies, etc.) can and are frequently named. I'm sure the OP would appreciate your reference.
