jmkennett Posted April 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2013 We will be on the Noordam this summer, with a stop in Palma de Mallorca until midnight. Is it a great port to experience in the evening, like Mykonos, Venice, etc? Or does it close up? Where do the ships dock (how far from the main tourist area)? Do most cruise lines offer a shuttle? Basically, my question is, is it worth going back in after dinner for a few hours? Thanks!
LondonTowner Posted April 26, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2013 Palma has a vibrant nightlife probably one of the best in Europe. There are fantastic bars and restaurants. Although if your ship is leaving at midnight you will miss the best bits as that is when it all gets started.
Ljunggren Posted April 26, 2013 #3 Share Posted April 26, 2013 We´ll be spending 9 days, postcruise, at the Melia Palas Athena in June this summer. Any particular bars and restaurants we need to visit while in Palma? ;)
LondonTowner Posted April 26, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 26, 2013 One of the most spectacular bar in Palma is Abaco, just behind La Lonja. It is in an old style mallorquin house with various rooms. However, at midnight they drop fresh rose petals from the season. It is pricey, arond 15 Euros for a drink, but worth it for the experience. Not too far away from Abaco is a nice tapas bar called La Boveda. If you want to go a bit further afield one evening take a taxi to the village of genova, just outside Palma where you will find some lovely restaurants with great views. C'an Pep is one of the most popular. the Porto Pi restaurant in the area of the same name, is good for fish and seafood, but expensive or try Casa Eduardo in El Muelle, the fishing port. Another fish restaurant with an excellent reputation is Portixol in the Hotel Portixol just outside Palma, beside the resort of C'an Pastilla. In the centre of Palma try Celler Sa Premsa for typical Mallorquin cuisine. Mallorca has some very good restaurants, I am sure you will enjoy trying them. At lunch time I would suggest the Menu del Dia, which is cheap and generally good. For round 8-12 Euros, depending on the restaurant, you will get a 3 course meal with wine or beer and water included.
