We booked an interior room for this sailing.

I was wondering what those that have booked have chosen?

Also, if sailing out of Rotterdam, have you decided how many days ahead you would arrive and where you are staying?

We have a balcony - have to have a connection to the outside!

We'll leave Friday after work and fly into Amsterdam. Stay there a few days and come to Rotterdam the night before embarkation. We're staying at the Hotel New York in Rotterdam - right next to the cruise dock.

I mentioned on the main thread, but thought I would give our thread here a bump and mention that we have booked our flight out of Miami to Amsterdam!

So with that behind us...we look forward to deciding on our hotel accommodations for Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

We are currently thinking 2 nights in Amsterdam and the night before sailing in Rotterdam.

I spoke with Tom from Central Florida and he gave some very nice suggestions regarding the Renaissance in Amsterdam. I have also been reading reviews on Trip Advisor.

Any input from others regarding accommodations in either city is greatly appreciated.

Happy travels to all! :)

Our first time together in Europe (my first time altogether) so I'm no use for recommendations but thinking the same about time in Amsterdam and have Hotel NY booked the night before embarkation in Rotterdam.

Can I ask, though, about what price range is your flight and which airline? We're not frequent flyers so pointers appreciated!

I booked through RCCL with Choice Air. We paid $661 per ticket from Miami to Amsterdam with a 3hr and 15 min layover in Paris. Price is currently $650....we are flying on Air France. The ticket we purchased is a "refundable ticket" meaning if we cancel we are charged $150 per ticket and refunded the remainder. Lufthansa is currently offering a fare for $535 on Choice Air....through Germany....but I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with the layover times....I think it was just over an hour.

What airport in Germany was it? In Germany everything runs like clock work. Now In Paris that's another story. You will need that 3.5 hour layover and bring your walking shoes.

Take care guys.

Tom.

The layover in Germany was at the airport in Frankfurt.

Just a thread bump ~ and because I'm BIG on planning ahead….we are set for the following:

We have booked our 1 way flight from Miami into Amsterdam with an arrival on Saturday, October 11. We are booked at the DoubleTree @ Centraal Station for the first two nights in Amsterdam.

On Monday, the day before embarkation, we will take the train into Rotterdam and have reservations at the Hotel New York. I see that MisterMom has booked for the Hotel New York as well….so perhaps we can meet up sometime that day or evening for a pre-cruise drink and meet!

Is anyone else booking airfare and hotel accommodations this far in advance? My airfare I booked as "refundable" ….so only loose $150 per booked ticket should we have to cancel. Both of the hotel accommodations we have booked allow for cancellation as late as the day of arrival.

I feel more comfortable booking now. It gives me the opportunity to pay in full before I go….and then I can figure out our budget for fun in the cities prior to embarkation, the casino, etc., while we are on the ship.

Well….here we are….November 2013 and less then a year to go! :D:D

The holidays are approaching quickly and the new year will be here before we know it. No travel plans until April 2014 for us. I hope all is well with everyone!

We did make a change with our flight from Miami to Amsterdam. Air France shortened the layover time to 1hr15min and we weren't comfortable with that. So now we are all booked with Lufthansa and have plenty of time on our layover in Frankfurt.

Looking forward to meeting new friends! Wishing everyone Happy Holidays!

Happy travels to all!! :)

Boco......I see you will be cruising on the NCL Spirit this month...enjoy!

I would like to touch base with you and get some ideas of what would be the best way to spend some of our time while in the Netherlands.

We fly in on Saturday, October 11, about 1pm and will stay in Amsterdam for 2 nights and in Rotterdam the night before embarkation.

This will be our 1st trip to the Netherlands and open to ideas that may enhance our trip.....perhaps a canal cruise or any suggestions you may be able to offer would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Happy travels to all! :)

Count us in for suggestions, too. We fly in to Amsterdam Saturday as well. Haven't decided where we're staying yet.

It has been a while since I logged in. This thread got sorted into the 6th or 7th page....so I figured I would give it a lil' bump.

We did make one change through Choice Air for our flight. We are now leaving on Friday, 10 OCT. We are flying Delta with a layover in Atlanta and then straight through to Amsterdam. This will have us arriving around 6am on Saturday, 11 OCT.

I am happy with the change. The hotel will hold our luggage prior to check-in and we can spend part of the day touring Amsterdam. :D
