Natasha708 Posted April 29, 2013 #26 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Glad you like the pic. Yes, Pier 35 is very near Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39 which is out of frame to the left. It's only two piers away as all piers north of the Bay Bridge are odd numbered and even numbered south of the bridge. Easily within walking distance. Excellent info thx! It's my first time sailing out of LA and sailing on the Pacific!
gcvt Posted April 29, 2013 #27 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Excellent info thx! It's my first time sailing out of LA and sailing on the Pacific! My pleasure! I hope you enjoy your time here. If I had the day off, the GF and I (and Gladys the dog) would be on the beach waving at you as you leave port. I tried to get better pics of Sapphire today but it's very difficult in SF. You can't see anything from street level unless you're many blocks away, or even from Coit Tower. I took that pic half way up the hill to Coit Tower. I should have taken a photo of the new cruise pier from up there...it looks incredible! Wendy: We hope you're having a great time! :D

gcvt Posted April 29, 2013 #29 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Love it ~~~ Thanks again. I plan on doing the Princess tour to Muir Woods and Sausalito. Any hints are always appreciated! I've never researched the Princess excursions here, of course, but Muir Woods will BLOW your mind! The main drag in Sausalito is somewhat touristy, but quaint - tons of cool shops and great restaurants. Oh, you're in Houston. I grew up there :)

We're sailing next week with 2 little ones, hopefully there will be a few more of them to play with!! Can't wait for more updates, it's getting me excited for next week! WendyG Posted April 29, 2013 Author #32 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Wendy: I am curious about the band in the Wheelhouse. If you stop by please letme know. Greg Hi Greg, The band playing in wheelhouse is called playlist quartet. They got on the ship a week ago. They were on a break when we stopped by but we saw them sitting outside and they seem nice. The bartenders in wheelhouse said they're really good. :)

WendyG Posted April 29, 2013 Author #34 Share Posted April 29, 2013 I know you said that you are going to bring wine on later, but did you happen to see what was being done at embarkation? There has been lots of talk about policy being enforced and not enforced. We are on next week, so take good care of her for us.:) Stopped at Target on the way back tonight and brought on 3 bottles. No one pays attention! At embarkation the big sign was up (one bottle per person) but the guy in front of us brought on six bottles, no questions asked. :) Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk

jbobst Posted April 29, 2013 #38 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Thanks for posting! Looking forward to reading you! One question..Can you find out if any of the 5 pools are heated? Thank you so much! Enjoy! We were on the Sapphire a couple weeks ago...I swam in 3 of the 5 pools and they were heated. I thought they were a perfect temperature. The four hot tubs I used however weren't all that hot though. They were alright (at least a couple of them, but not that hot.
PLW0520 Posted April 29, 2013 #39 Share Posted April 29, 2013 We are going on the Sapphire next spring and would like to know what kind of furniture is on the Caribe balconies. We were just on the Emerald and they still had the comfortable blue furniture. Four chairs and a good size table. How about on the Sapphire? casinovisitor Posted April 29, 2013 #40 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Thank you so much for posting. I wonder if you can inquire if the head waiter Francecso is onboard. Also the name of the casino manager. Have a wonderful time and smooth sailing.

WendyG Posted April 29, 2013 Author #43 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Hi all.....we left SF at 340 (schedule was 3) and are almost under the bridge. It was a beautiful sunny day today with a high of 72. We hit Boudins for clam chowder and walked the wharf. Formal night tonight but first up is trivia at 430. Oh and we won scattegories today so I added a pen to my prize winnings. Woohoo! :D Will do inquiries later and answer the casino and maitre d questions later on... Blue furniture on my Caribe balcony: 2 chairs and 2 ottomans and a table big enough to put 2 lunches on. From what I understand, "comfortable" is subjective. Roses2 Posted April 30, 2013 #47 Share Posted April 30, 2013 If you run into Patrizia, the Captain's Circle Hostess, please ask her to pass along hearty congratulations from the Roses to her husband, Ovi, who passed his exam to move up from waiter to Dining Room Supervisor. We sailed with them recently on the Sapphire San Pedro - Hawaii cruise. Ovi was our waiter in the Da Vinci dining room and is a superb asset to Princess. Patrizia and Ovi added greatly to our enjoyment of our 2 weeks on the Sapphire. Thanks, P&J

It still has to be more comfortable than what we had on the Diamond.
Natasha708 Posted April 30, 2013 #49 Share Posted April 30, 2013 Then it will be repositioned to Japan. Wow really? Thanks for the info. So only one short season doing the 4 nights? Maybe they are bringing the Crown there to do the short ones when Sapphire leaves..?
