Len3 Posted April 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2013 We're looking for a 2 night post-cruise near the station so that we have an easy rail trip to Heathrow. Any suggestions?
Cotswold Eagle Posted April 29, 2013 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2013 We're looking for a 2 night post-cruise near the station so that we have aneasy rail trip to Heathrow. Any suggestions? The obvious one is the Hilton, because you can walk out of it in to the station itself, it's attached :) But what's your budget and expectations? Len3 Posted April 29, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted April 29, 2013 We're just in need of a hotel that doesn't cost over about $250 US per night. We just want the location.
Twickenham Posted April 29, 2013 #4 Share Posted April 29, 2013 We're looking for a 2 night post-cruise near the station so that we have aneasy rail trip to Heathrow. Any suggestions? The Hilton is of course the most convenient, being attached to the station, but I think you'd struggle to find it for your budget - you could play around with promo codes and see what you get (what are your dates, BTW?) The Mercure is right across the small side-street from the station, so almost as convenient - it's a bit less than the Hilton usually, so could work for you. There's an Indigo Hotel (part of IHG) just down the street, the rooms are supposedly small but quite nice. Otherwise, there's a plethora of small B&B hotels in the vicinity of varying quality. I usually stay self-catering nowadays so I don't have much recent experience with them.
Morgans Posted April 29, 2013 #5 Share Posted April 29, 2013 Hilton Metropole is a popular one with the Cruising Community. Would echo Cotswold E. above.
LegalEagle2012 Posted May 1, 2013 #6 Share Posted May 1, 2013 The Metropole is just finished being renovated - I go past it three times a week. It is in a lovely spot overlooking Paddington Basin. There is a Tune hotel right across Praed Street and in easy walking distance - along the canal path - to Paddington mainline station for connections to Heathrow. Rooms there start from around the £45 mark - for a basic one. The Tune is not a upscale as the Hilton Metropole but a good buy. Always compare prices on UK hotels on Trivago website too.
