C-COOP Posted May 3, 2013 #26 Share Posted May 3, 2013 I am not sure why Carnival thinks it is a good idea to have drinkers subsidize everyone else's cruise with $10 drinks.
walke2jd Posted May 3, 2013 #27 Share Posted May 3, 2013 I am not sure why Carnival thinks it is a good idea to have drinkers subsidize everyone else's cruise with $10 drinks. I'm not sure why everyone thinks they are so outrageously priced. A good rum and coke will run $6 anywhere, so the fact that I can get one in the middle of the ocean for the same price seems completely reasonable. As for the $10 froo-froo drinks, you are paying for the silly cup. I don't know of too many bars that allow you to take the glasswear home, so thats an unfair comparison. I occasionally bring rum runners, but its more for the convenience of a drink in the room. I think Carnival's prices are more than fair given how captive of an audience they have. They could be more like the movie theaters and charge $6 for a soda...
fireofficer5 Posted May 3, 2013 #28 Share Posted May 3, 2013 The real way to get the most bang for the buck with booze is, don't eat so dang much. Eat just enough to get your buzz on with one drink. This'll keep your bar tab in check and your waist line in order.
indygolfer1 Posted May 3, 2013 #29 Share Posted May 3, 2013 They don't leak. Pack them in a bag with your toiletries. We buy drinks on the cruise but prefer a drink in our room occasionally. Never have we even used all we brought. Just don't want a huge bar bill. We also bring on 2 bottles of wine and I pour a glass before dinner to save on buying wine at dinner. Personally we think the cheers program is too expensive. We don't drink enough to justify the cost.
Calico Jack Sparrow Posted May 3, 2013 #30 Share Posted May 3, 2013 I'm smuggling!!! Get's me in the mood and makes me feel like a Pirate:) Arrghh! That's the spirit, matey! I used RR on RCL, but bought two bottles of Patron when I sailed CCL. The 8 oz size is harder to see when they scan your bag. I used 8oz RR and split them between my suitcases. I wrapped mine in ziplock bags for extra safety. I hid them in my shorts pocket; a sneaker; and two were under the lining of suitcase. I flew with them from NY to SJ and right on the ship. That's exactly what I'll do next time.:D
