Cubechick Posted May 11, 2013 Author #76 Share Posted May 11, 2013 Cubechick, I have to thank you for this fabulous photo review! You covered absolutely everything we would want to see, and your commentary on various shots is really helpful! I love the color schemes, and the relaxed look of the staterooms! The 2-Bedroom looks fabulous, and they've definitely made some improvements in the layout - like the make-up area in the master bedroom, and the removal of space-hogging nonsense such as the fake tree in the living room, etc. LOVE the new look! :) Now I'm obsessively reviewing the calendar and putting some serious effort into planning our first cruise on the Breakaway. :D Thank you so much! What a lovely thing to say! I will be finishing up tomorrow!

meltingmoments Posted May 11, 2013 #80 Share Posted May 11, 2013 Now that we've walked around the Waterfront, let's see what fun we can have there! (I apologize in advance...if you've seen my blog there are a couple of duplicate pics.) Stop and scan for marine life? Aww who's this gorgeous little fella? I work in a Primary School and we have Barnaby Bear who goes home with the children at the week-end for adventures and has been known to accompany Staff on THEIR adventures too!! I'm sure Barnaby would LOVE The Breakaway!!;) Thank-you so much for the review, it's excellent! Your pics are fab too!!
The P Posted May 11, 2013 #81 Share Posted May 11, 2013 Loving your pix and commentary! I'm taking notes so I remember for my cruise, which isn't till January, so I gotta write 'em all down, LOL. Which deck has the clear water panels? See any shuffleboard as you're walking the decks?

Clear water panels are on deck 8 AFT (Oceanfront), and the shuffleboard is on deck 7, I am not sure if they have one on each side or not.

Cubechick Posted May 11, 2013 Author #85 Share Posted May 11, 2013 Time to finish this up. First let us step outside, all the way up! On one end of deck 15 you have the ropes course leading you to the famous Plank: Beneath the ropes is a cute miniature golf course: I like that the jogging track has the distance clearly marked for you...but don't like that it isn't red like it is on other ships. I think a lot of time people strolling around didn't realize they were on the jogging track and impeding runners. Sponge Bob looks like he's ready to have some fun! The five slides in the Aqua Park deliver various levels of thrills. On some you can reach 30 miles per hour!!! The pool area, as on the Epic is small...I'll be curious to read what passengers think when she's sailing full!
Cubechick Posted May 11, 2013 Author #86 Share Posted May 11, 2013 There is plenty to keep you entertained all day. Mini-bowling at O'Sheehans (there were also pool-tables and a basketball game). Finally the weather was nice enough for the band to play by the pool: As NCL CEO Kevin Sheehan was sailing with us, he was nice enough to give a talk during the last sea day: The Cirque Dreams stage is ready for the performance to begin: A treat for Haven guests...two of the Cirque performers come up 20 minutes before they appear on stage to warm up. The Haven is the only place with a high enough ceiling and some privacy for them to do so. I've already posted a pic of Slam, so here's a shot of the Rock of Ages stage right before their performance. Loved this show! (Yes, the "plot" is pretty thin, but it's fun and the performers (and musicians) excellent!)
jimswims Posted May 11, 2013 #87 Share Posted May 11, 2013 What a wonderful review Cubechick! I am currently in cruise retirement as my oldest is heading off to college in the fall. This will be the first year that we do not cruise :( You are not making this easy with your information and photos! The Breakaway looks fantastic and I hope to sail on her someday. Cubechick Posted May 11, 2013 Author #91 Share Posted May 11, 2013 Some final, random photos... They've got sinks at the Garden Cafe! Not settling for just "Washy, Washy, Happy, Happy" anymore! Great idea giving diners a place to wash up with hot water and soap! It's tucked away in a corner, but I found the snack area for the casino dwellers: Love the Aqua Park at night! The colors really pop! Spice looks pretty roomy (and lonely) when it's empty... But filled up pretty quick for the Eighties Party!! Before the cruise we'd all read about the fireworks on every cruise...but had been told not until the Breakaway got to New York. Surprise!!!! It really was a great trip and the Breakaway is beautiful. I can't wait to see how NCL tops her and the Getaway with Breakaway Plus (coming October 2015)!!! If I haven't covered something you were hoping for let me know, and I'll see what I can do. Although between myself and the rest of the CC reviewers, I think we've got most everything covered except specific cabins! Thank you for sailing with me! Hi Cubechick, Thank you so much for spending time and sharing your experience and photos of the inaugural TA sailing of the Breakaway. I have been so looking forward to our June 16 sailing and now you have made me even more excited. Hello Jim, I think you are just in a cruise sabbatical, just like we were when my DH was getting treatments, surgery and recovering from his illness. We missed cruising so much during those 18 months. Very happy to say that DH is doing much better, we were on the Star on her last sailing to Bermuda in October and we were also on the Jewel in December and on her last sailing to PC and the Bahamas last month. We hope to be able to cruise with you and Coka one of these days, maybe on one of your sabbatical breaks. :D Those college years will fly by. English101 Posted May 12, 2013 #99 Share Posted May 12, 2013 Thank you very much for your review and pictures.Looking at Tappenaki, it looks like the table holds 8. I've been asking this question about how many it holds since our family of 10 would like to do this the first night. Many said that TAppenaki holds 10 at a table, but maybe it was on other ships. Does it look like the table is for 8 or am I missing two place settings? If it is 8, do you think I should book 5 and 5 and ask to be seated together at two separate connecting tables or book for 10 and have us split up 8 and 2 although the 2 won't eat at the same time since one chef cooks at a time. Can anyone please give me some insight on what they would suggest. Thank you. I just counted 16 all the way around both cooking areas. Your party will have 2 different chefs but you'll be sitting around the same area. OR, they could add 2 more chairs to the one side(doesn't look like a problem with the space between the 2 center chairs and possibly a child at a corner) hope you have a great time! We'll be there in 500+ days
