Train Calgary to Vancouver

We are taking an Alaskan cruise in August and considering flying from BWI to Calgary and taking the scenic train to Vancouver. Does anyone have experience with this train? Thanks!:)

Several years ago, I took the VIA from Kingston On. to Vancouver. Extremely scenic ride. A great option with the time. But consider spending a few days at stops along the way, Banff and Jasper is a must do.

I assume you are talking about the Rockymountaineer Rail Tour for two days. We took the trip last year and it was fantastic. Be sure to book Gold Leaf service.

I second what General Max says! The Rocky Mountaineer in Gold Leaf Dome is as good as a great cruise!

Thanks, we have been to Banff and Jasper, beautiful, but have never taken the rail. What made the Gold Leaf so much better than the Red Leaf, there is a substantial price difference?

There is a fair price differance. Gold Leaf is First Class, Dome car Seating, meals downstairs in Dining Room, just a real WOW. Even more of a differance (IMHO) than moving from and Inside Cabin to an outside. Think more of moving from easycruise to Celebrity!
