dst Posted June 18, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2004 We are planning on snorkeling on our own while in GC. Our question is do you think it would be better to rent a car than use a taxi all over. We thought if we rented a car then we could do more then just one beach. Our plan was to go to Cemetary Reef and Smith's Cove, then maybe stop at 7 mile just for fun! Any thoughts on this, also does anyone have any recommendations fro getting a car in Cayman? Days are always longer when at sea...
Trainman52 Posted June 20, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2004 We also rented a car. The pickup is by the port. You go into the Blue Iguana, give them your name and they call for the shuttle. It is about a 10 minute ride out to the airport. Outside of having to learn to stay to the left, we had a great time. You stop where you want and see the territory at ground level. Just study the maps carefully. We got lost for about 20 minutes after we picked up the car. All things considered, if you plan to go shopping, figure on 4 1/2 hours with the car. If not, a little over 5 max. It still beats the taxis. $51.00 U.S. when all was said and done. Rich
dst Posted June 24, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted June 24, 2004 Rich: Thanks we rented a car yesterday and the total was 51.00. It states that we do not even have to fill up the gas tank, its included. Did this happen with you, not sure if I believe that or not...... Thanks again, looking forward to exploring the island
mbw1024 Posted June 26, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2004 I just filled out a rental form as well but didn't get any email confirmation or anything. Is that normal?
