oporto port houses vila nova de gaia

Going to be in vila nova de gaia in September. My husband loves port. Has anyone been to the port houses? what do they charge and what was your favorite tour? Thanks

Most houses are located in the same general area and offer tastings at a reasonable cost which primarily depends on port quality. Some have tours (I think Ferriera is free with some of the boat tours). It's not much, you'll see mostly lots of wooden barrels. Others like Kopke have tasting rooms only. We liked Kopke and Taylors the best. Croft was good too.

We had lunch at Sandeman's and it was great :D. Sat outside and ate, enjoyed the warm weather and watched all the pedestrians stroll by.
