Renting a car in Grand Cayman?

What can you tell me about renting a car in Grand Cayman? How much would it cost, how easy is it to get around, etc. Last time we visited, we did a tour that went to Hell, the rum factory, the Turtle Farm, and Stingray City. This go 'round, we want to do the rum factory and perhaps just explore a bit. Is there an easier way to do that?

Avis rental cars in grand cayman has a cruise passenger rate, they will pick you up and drop you off. The steering wheel is on the right, a bit hard to get used to but the road to rum point is good.

I dont recall any rentals right at the pier, but the airport is nearby and all of the usual players are there.

 

You'll be doing right hand drive on the wrong (for americans) side of the road, make sure you're prepared for that. And you have to get a Cayman's drivers license. No big deal there, no test, just paperwork and an extra $20 or so.

There is not one at the pier, they pick you up at the pier and drive you to their office.

We reserved the smallest car from AVIS. Total price was less than $75 including drivers license fee.

 

The upgraded for free to a medium car.

It was quick and easy, although we walked to the Blue Iguana to get picked up they drove us right back to the pier.
