Dilemma, which cruise!

Hi everyone,

Can I ask for your thoughts please. I am currently booked on a 12 night Med cruise on Equinox on 13 November, in an inside stateroom, and have a final balance of £800 to pay in August. I am now considering moving to Eclipse 6 October, 14 Night cruise Canaries from Southampton (I live half hour away!) The new cruise has a price of £1150 for a guarantee inside grade. I was wondering if you feel the Eclipse price is likely to drop over the coming weeks, or even go up?

I will have to cancel the Equinox cruise as I am not allowed to transfer the booking to a new guarantee booking sadly, so loose £300 there as well.

I would really apprecite your thoughts

Many thanks

Ian

Well we really don't have enough info to provide an answer:

For you what are the reasons for switching

it looks like both cruises cost the same

i would think the MED cruise would be warmer

Have you been to the ports on both cruises before

your price is the result of a drop so not sure how much more it will

Recent price drops for this cruise:

this is yours correct it seems 4 ports are the Canaries?

Itinerary: Southampton, England; Ponta Delgada, Azores; Madeira (Funchal), Portugal; Tenerife, Canary Islands; Gran Canaria, Canary Islands; Fuerteventura, Canary; Lanzarote, Canary Islands; Lisbon, Portugal; Southampton, England

Many thanks. Yes that is the correct cruise.

In theory the med should be warm, but Northern Italy (Venice) and the Adritic can be really cool in November. Looking at the price drop I can't imagine it going much lower, although can imagine a £999 deal? We paid £950 for Equinox. It seemed a great idea at the time, but the reality of booking an airport hotel at Gatwick, and one day at each end of the cruise travelling vs being less than an hour from my front door to Eclipse in Southampton is making me want to do the Canaries cruise. Plus the Canaries in November shulf be in the mid 20s ©

I have been to all of the ports on the Med cruise before, but 2 of them on the Canaries cruise are new to me.

Decisions decisions!

Just for future knowledge can an 'x' grade be booked onboard ship with the $300 obc given for future booking?

Many thanks

Ian

We've done the Canaries cruise from Southampton and it's really wonderful but then again we've done that Med cruise, too, and I could say the same about those ports! I guess what it boils down to is how much losing that 300 GBP deposit matters to you. Athough honestly you're not exactly losing that much since you have to add on the price of a Gatwick airport hotel and meals to the price of the Equinox cruise total. If it were me, I'd take the 14 night Canaries cruise because it gives me two extra nights on board which in my book are priceless. And the convenience of living close to Southampton is really nice, too. That is an intangible that can't be discounted. Aw heck, go to the Canaries. We were just in Lanzarote, Lisbon, and Tenerife two weeks ago and if I had magic powder to get me back there in a whiff, I'd be there now. ;)

You have convinced me :)

You're quite welcome. My brother- and sister-in-law living in Wokingham so I know the sheer convenience of getting to Southampton. Can't be beat, really. We were very impressed with Lanzarote and Tenerife. In both places we rented a car from Cicar at the port for only 39 euros and drove from one end of the island the other. I envy you going there! I forgot to answer your other question about booking on board and getting an X grade cabin--the answer I am pretty sure is no, unless that guarantee cabin is available at the time you're booking. It's always hit or miss as to whether any particular cruise will have guarantee categories close to departure so you couldn't really pre-book.
