WLHyatt Posted May 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2013 Just off the Conquest (well, still onboard, but disembarking soon) and the FTTF room count is now 50. I saw the list near our check in agent and she said it is 50 rooms now. We boarded directly after weddings and Platinum/diamond. It was a great trip and we really enjoyed the Alchemy Bar. I think the amount of rooms released for FTTF is based on the amount of loyalty members booked. My understanding is that the FTTF passes are released in blocks. Less platinum, more FTTF's that get released. I could be wrong, but certainly makes sense. Now get ready for a bickering session to commence. But it can't be 50 rooms sold for FTTF. The maximum is 30, just read all the expert posts on this. Really, who cares? DW and I are Platinum, and as long as we get onboard, get to go straight to our room, eat good, that's all that matters.:D
WLHyatt Posted May 19, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted May 19, 2013 I agree. I just figured some folks would like to know that it is not limited to 30 like has been touted. It may be different for the fantasy class ships, and this is just my observation of the operations at the port of New Orleans.

cruzn buckeye Posted May 19, 2013 #6 Share Posted May 19, 2013 it is sad to think that some of the PVPS and other reservation agents there do not know the policies. Okay, let me be the first to gripe  . I think allowing 50 cabins, with a possiblity of 4 per cabin equaling 200 passengers, and add that to the Platinum cruisers. On one sailing there were 300 Platinum cruisers listed in the Casino. You can find out there how many are on your sailing because of the list they keep for the buy one get one free tournament. (which by the way, used to be free to Platinum cruisers.) So now, you have a possibility of 500 passengers waiting on those first tenders, getting early debark and priority embark. What's the point?? Just so they can make a few bucks more. I think if they want to do this, they should just say to heck with loyalty program and drop it. The best perks for loyalty are also sold for 50 bucks a cabin. I know, I know.. we have already went over this... but seriously? Drop the freggin loyalty program, who cares about those people who helped build this cruise line. Just sell the dang things to the first 500 or heck, let's just make it 1000??? I wonder if the other cruiselines will follow suit and sell what their loyal guests have earned?? Before you say it, no I don't think I am special. Actually quite the opposite in may phases of my life... just sayin... this was always an encouragement used by CCL to get passengers to book multiple cruises. Which we have. We don't sail for those perks. We sail for the ships and destinations. But it was just nice to have that extra little thank you...
WLHyatt Posted May 19, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted May 19, 2013 Our experience was far from bad. There may have been 120 folks for FTTF and about that many plats and diamonds. But the lines were never crowded, and the tenders are always going to be crowded, but there were not any priority folks waiting. I never stood in line at guest services, and embarkation was smooth and easy right behind the priority folks.

Rudyard Posted May 19, 2013 #11 Share Posted May 19, 2013 and she said it is 50 rooms now While it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility for Carnival to increase the number of FTTF cabins, and I'm sure they will if they can get away with it, I'm going to reserve judgement until something more official than the word of a check in agent. It could be the lowest guy working in the laundry saying this, but people will believe what they want if it supports their pro or anti Carnival agenda. larkz Posted May 19, 2013 #12 Share Posted May 19, 2013 It's a balance. If they tweak the program for best income and efficiency, it's a great way to make money from people willing to buy into the FTTF program. Makes good business sense to me. The amusement parks have been doing this successfully for a couple of decades. Believe me, I know how many times my daughter dragged me through the fast lines on the roller coasters! larkz Posted May 19, 2013 #15 Share Posted May 19, 2013 has anyone ever been turned down for fttf program? Do you mean, when requesting it by phone? Because it isn't always available online. Many have mentioned that various ships aren't offering it at all yet, or their own booked cruises aren't showing it as an option (under shore excursions on the Carnival site). Here again, I say this number (50) has to be wrong, as we have been repeatedly told by posters that a maximum of 30 will be available. Don't get me wrong, because as Platinum, I now also get to my room as soon as I board, if the ship offers FTTF.

Perhaps an initial block of 30 is set aside, for a maximum of 50 if the number of platinum or VIP cruisers is lower than average. In any case, I don't think Carnival is dumb enough to flood the fast lines and defeat the purpose of the program. They occasionally do dumb things, but they seem to be pretty smart when it comes to enticing upsells. As I said above, the amusement parks have been doing the fast line perks for decades. This business model is proven. It isn't that hard for the cruiseline to implement successfully.

No different than someone paying extra to dine in a specialty restaurant, when food is available at other venues and included in your cruise fare. Thank you Cruise Critic for all the valuable information that is out there. Hi - My family is on the same cruise as your family. I also have FTTF booked for 3 cabins - 6 of us. Did you see how many more were still available when you booked? A number is not showing on my screen. I thought it was my browser (firefox) because my cruise documents weren't displaying correctly so I tried a different browser (IE - our cruise documents info is correct w/ FTTF showing) but I still don't see any FTTF numbers when I look in excursions or try to do a mock booking. I see people post that "x" number are left available and out of curiousity I want to know that number for our cruise.

I did not see any numbers, but here is why...I called carnival to find out why it was not showing as an option and the gentleman informed me that they would not go on sale until two weeks before the cruise date. Which made sense if they don't know how many Platinum and VIP people there would be. So when I clicked on shore excursions and clicked on New Orleans it popped up for a second and then was gone, so I clicked again and clicked before it went away. But it is showing on my luggage tags and under excursions on my documents. So I do have it and am so excited about it.
