I was on the Cozumel Bar Hop once and the tour guide warned us to never rent any kind of vehicle there. She said traffic's always bad and pretty much all you need to get a license there is a pulse. She brought it up after a scooter with a family of four on it zoomed past us. There are people who will tell you it's perfectly safe, they rent vehicles every time they're in Coz, etc, etc. That's awesome for them, but if you do a google search you can find plenty of accidents where cruisers ended up missing the ship or worse.

It went away for a while after the new menus came out a couple of years ago, IIRC. I do remember John Heald saying there was enough of a backlash that they brought it back.

I have a decision to make and hoped I could get some input here. I'll be on Jubilee in December and have FTTF. We normally park at Park N Cruise and walk across the street. On our last cruise, due to mobility issues, I dropped my wife and our luggage off at the terminal and then went to park. For that cruise, Breeze was the only Carnival ship in port so traffic wasn't bad at 10:00 am. For our upcoming cruise, Jubilee and Breeze will both be in port. How bad will traffic potentially be? I'm hoping I wouldn't have to wait half an hour in a line of cars to drop off my bags. My options are 1) Keep FTTF and hope I get lucky with traffic 2) Cancel FTTF and just pick a later time like 1:00pm when I check in to hopefully avoid the morning rush. I'm leaning towards #2 right now but would still like to hear from others about the traffic. Even though it's almost "not worth it" to get FTTF, we still get it so that we can get through security and check in quicker so my wife doesn't have to be on her feet for too long (She doesn't really need a wheelchair and would only use one as a very last resort. She just tires very easily), and to drop our carry on bags since we usually have a nebulizer and half a pharmacy with us which can get heavy after a while.

I'd love to know if anything's leaked out as well. Thinking about booking a Dec 2026 Eastern itinerary and hoping they finally add a Cucina.

Saint Greg's return to Jubilee - Live - August 24, 2024
Rudyard replied to Saint Greg's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Sadly it seems like that's always the case the last couple of years. The buffet menu looks great and the descriptions of the food make me want to eat there, but then you get the food and it's almost like a case of false advertising. -
I've stayed in Lido cabins on Breeze and Valor that were two or three cabins away from the Lido Deck and had no issues with noise.

I haven't seen the TABC table the past few cruises I've been on. They might be setting it up in a quiet out of the way corner somewhere since they know most people with alcohol aren't declaring it anyway.

Probably not. I read where people have tried doing that with the pizzas and they won't do it.

Set dining time or "Your Time" dining
Rudyard replied to Softservekid1's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
We discovered the same problem when we were on Allure last year. Having to reserve dining times with MTD kind of defeats the purpose and the walk up line was always long. Earliest times we could book were all after 7:30 pm and we usually like to eat earlier. It was bad enough that MTD didn't open until like 6:45 IIRC. Luckily we had the three meal dining plan so we ate at specialty restaurants on those night and just went to the Windjammer on the others. -
I'm hoping the higher looking prices will keep the people that like to throw chairs in the buffet from booking any more cruises.
-
Yikes. I've done that a couple of times and the people I did it for were appreciative. I might rethink doing it in the future as I can easily see someone taking it the wrong way.

A few years ago my wife couldn't make a cruise due to having to go out of town on a family related issue, but encouraged me to go without her. Everything happened pretty much the way you describe it for Royal. They called her like MayorDrafty describes in the post above, she said she couldn't make it, they refunded her fees with no fuss.

I haven't seen Guinness on Carnival in years. They have some other kind of stout but can't recall the name.

I went to the atrium bar on my last cruise to get my water and the bartender told me the same thing.

I've found that people that use this to describe Carnival are usually people who have only cruised with a cruise line that rhymes with "foil" who... 1. Were talked into going on a Carnival cruise by friends or family and went into it determined to have a bad time 2. Got a really good offer for a Carnival cruise that they couldn't pass up and went into it determined to have a bad time 3. Booked a cheap three day cruise on an older Carnival ship without doing any research and had a bad time 4. Never cruised with Carnival but heard how bad it was from their neighbor's brother's sister in law who falls into category 1, 2, or 3.

I remember that show. It was called Cruise Inc: Big Money on the High Seas. Pretty good behind the scenes documentary. I remember they lost a lot of money at one port where some excursions were cancelled due to weather.

Only for cruises stopping in Colombia or Greenland (according to the Carnival website). I cruised to Cozumel and Costa Maya a couple of years ago with three months left on my passport and had no problems.

Since it's a two person cabin, I'm wondering if the couch even folds out into a bed? If so then I see no problem with it. If not he might be too tall at 16 to just sleep on the couch.

On our last cruise we went to our cabin just to drop off our bags (we had FTTF) and didn't expect to stay. When we got there around 1130 the door was closed and there were no keys in the mailbox. As we were leaving our steward suddenly showed up, opened the door for us and told us he was finished with the room, then said we could stay but the keys wouldn't be there until around 1230. We went to eat and came back to find the keys waiting just like he said. If he hadn't have told us we could stay we wouldn't have and I won't plan on it for next time.

Since the restart I've always picked up my water at the bar. On my last cruise I went to the Atrium bar and the bartender told us our steward had already marked the two bottles in our cabin as our free bottles so we could just go ahead and drink those. Next time I'll ask my steward if we can take those instead of going to a bar. If I don't it would be my luck I'd drink them and get charged.

Looking forward to trying MSC. Been wanting to try them for a few years now but my wife won't fly unless it's absolutely necessary. If the cruise I have booked for December of '25 wasn't a 10 day Panama cruise I'd cancel in a heartbeat and book MSC. Hoping maybe I can book a spring '26 cruise. The itinerary doesn't worry me as Seascape looks nice enough that I probably won't want to get off the ship.

No worries. I didn't even think about PCP looking similar to PVP. Should have just said Doctor instead.

My wife had to have stitches for a bad cut on her arm before a cruise a couple of years ago. When we realized that the date to have them removed was during the cruise we contacted our PCP for advice. She said leaving them in an extra couple of days wouldn't hurt.
