Rivers to frozen (end of May)

We are in Anchorage on our way to McKinley Princess Lodge. Just a reminder that if you have any kind of water excursion you should check. Our float trip on the Chilutna has been cancelled because the rivers are all still frozen in the Denali area.

[Northern Aurora]

We just returned from vacation (a cruise vacation of course!). Even though we were checking the Fairbanks Daily News-miner online and knew about the incredible cold spring we were having here in the Interior, it was still a shock to find snow on the north side of our house! My rose tree of China is usually in full bloom on Memorial Day weekend, but as of this afternoon the leaves are barely budding! This afternoon Fairbanks did hit the mid 60s, and the entire community is just thrilled.
