sailingnut Posted June 3, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2013 I am thinking of taking the train down to Grand Central for my cruise in October~~would anyone know if they have a shuffle to the port or would I have to take a taxi! Any suggestions would be helpful! I hate to pay the fare from my house to the pier~~but maybe that is best!:)
youngestof9 Posted June 3, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2013 Taxi from grand central to the port - no shuttles.
rbrugler Posted June 3, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2013 It is not a long ride. Cost will depend upon stop lights, etc. Piece of cake.
paulyjsob Posted June 3, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2013 Last 3 times we sailed out of NY the taxi fare from grand central to the port was between 10 and 13 dollars..
francina Posted June 3, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 3, 2013 No shuttle to the port. A taxi shouldn't be that expensive.
roses_rem Posted June 3, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 3, 2013 We were on the 5-12 to 5-19 sailing, we took a cab from and to penn station and each time it was 6.50 and we paid 10 due to our bags.... was a very easy ride, will never walk it again.... camz Posted June 3, 2013 #7 Share Posted June 3, 2013 Sometimes the taxi driver wants to know the Pier number, NCL is usually docked at Pier 88.
whenisthemidnightbuffet? Posted June 3, 2013 #8 Share Posted June 3, 2013 You can also take the MTA Bus #42. Stops right outside of GCS on 42nd Street and goes all the way crosstown on 42nd Street to 12th Avenue (a few blocks from pier). Cost $2.50 per person. Lugging Luggage? Definitely doable with the crosstown bus. However, you better be traveling light - really light. I wouldn't do it with any significant amount of luggage.
