Independent tours in Hiroshima

Just as an aside if you would consider doing it on your own...

Getting to the Peace Park is generally pretty easy as the streetcar lines get you fairly close and the areas around the park are easy walks. But there are a lot things around the park which a guide might be handy to help explain.

Miyajima is also fairly easy to get to. There are a number of different ways but we took a train. After we exited, we just followed the crowds two blocks to the ferry terminal. The key parts of the island is fairly concentrated so you won't get lost.

Have to tell a side story:

We're fans of TAR and the 2nd last episode of season 20 in 2012 had them going to Miyajima. That was pretty exciting because we were going there the week after the season finale. We were riding the ferry over to the island and the famous "floating" torii was wrapped up in scaffolding for maintenance. UGH! The island was still fun to boot around anyways.

Safe travels.

Any suggestions for independent tour guides in Hiroshima? We'd like to see both the Peace Memorial and Miyajima.

I can't help with guides but would say both are very easy to do on your own, like we did last November

Hiroshima

Miyajima

- alas the tide was out so the torii wasn't floating

All the best, Tony
