JohnSC Posted June 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2005 My wife and I are considering a cruise on the Empress of the Seas. We both like to dance and none of the reviews that I have read make specific reference to the kind and variety of dance music on board ship. We have cruised a number of times with RCL as well as with other cruise lines and have been somewhat disappointed with the music on recent RCL sailings. If you have sailed on the Empress recently I would welcome your comments about the music.

newcruiserdave Posted August 11, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2005 We're booked on Empress 10/1/05. We are also interested in dancing, all styles. Anyone with input on dancing on Empress? The latin bar looks interesting, do they play a lot of samba, rhumba, etc.?
zinman Posted August 17, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 17, 2005 We were on the Empress last week - plenty of dancing opportunities. They have Boleros with the Latin/salsa band and the Viking Crown lounge each night with a live rock band. They also did a couple of theem parties - one with 50's/60's music and one that starts out as a "Name That 80's Tune" game and ends with dancing to the music. They have a midnight buffet/party one night with a Latin theme, and there were a ton of people dancing under the stars by the pool that night. You will get a lot of dancing in on this ship if you want to.
