raria Posted June 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2005 Hi, Went on the Dawn a few weeks ago and talked to a few travel agents who were travelling as passengers. They had a very interesting tid-bit of information that I thought I would share with you. It seems (not sure why) that about once every three-four week period during non-summer months there is one Dawn sailing that is quite cheap. I noticed this when I was booking. 05/22 and 05/29 and 06/12 sailings were relatively expensive but I could book a sailing on 06/05 Interior KK cabin for $1600 including all port charges and insurance for two. The TA agents mentioned that they typically sail for no more than $800 per person total (all charges) on the Dawn and the "trick" is to find the cheap sailing. They didn't imply that they had inside information or they could get me deals (they didn't even give me their name or cards) just that they had noticed this trend. Hope this helps you get a cheap deal!!!
smeyer418 Posted June 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2005 It may be inexpensive but its not cheap. Also Raria the amounts you quote are not that inexpensive. You know you never answered whether you enjoyed the ship. The amounts that you quote are not nearly as inexpensive as some of the last minute deals. The last minute deals show up on the NCL site and if you sign up for some of the newsletters you will be notified of these deals. Balconies for less than 750 per person have shown up on occassion which is less than you indicate above. Also some people lie about how little they paid. Not me of course :) some non-holiday sailings are notoriosly inexpensive

serene56 Posted June 23, 2005 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2005 I book our cruises a year in advance. If you know the ship and date then you can get really good deals that far out. TO me--800 for an inside cabins is very expensive. I like keeping my cruises to under 100pp per day and so far been able to do that.. But the dawn dont include airfare so I guess 800 is pretty cheap. donnajo Posted June 23, 2005 #5 Share Posted June 23, 2005 I just booked the 11 day Empress for 2302 less a Crown and Anchor coupon of 225 less a shipboard credit of 200 = 1877 or 938.50 per person divide that by 11 days and it's 85.32per day in an oceanview cabin. Your 800. divided by seven days is 114.29 per day for an inside cabin. I don't feel thats very cheap. It is however, a decent price. Donna
mellowgirl Posted June 24, 2005 #6 Share Posted June 24, 2005 Please be very careful with those "deals" you find out there on the web. Often they leave out all the taxes, fees, and other "noncommissionable" parts of the fare. They will add all these back in and you will be back to a price where your travel agent could reasonably compete with, if not beat the price. Also, that price states "from" meaning it could be at the worst possible traveling time when anyone could find it that cheap. Many of the online agencies also charge a $50-$75 cancellation fee per person in addition to what the cruise line charges you! Also, every supplier has a list price in the brochure with a value or super saver price out beside it. I don't know who is paying list price for cruises, but I know I have never booked anyone at that non-discounted rate! So that bargain may not really be all that great. Just be careful so you don't get burned.

I think a kk ended up to be around 1,7000 for two.
