Anyone take the Victoria Pub Tour? Is it worth the $99?

My wife and I did this a few years back and enjoyed it. upon further reflection using taxis and Yelp you could probably accomplish the same thing and save the tour money for more beer.

I concur with ozbuc - we were on the Star a week ago, and did it on our own - printed out a list of pubs from Google, and hit five of them before we figured out we better head back to ship while we could. In each place had the best time talking to the locals and enjoying some very good beer. We did take the Princess shuttle for $9, which worked out well. Enjoy.

A couple of years ago the Canucks were in the hockey playoffs during our port stop in Victoria. DW bought a Canucks t-shirt, wore it to several of the pubs and we had a great time! Only had to pay for about half of the beers (mine).

It is NOT worth the $99 - we did it ourselves with just a little research online.

FWIW, I suppose with the Princess pub crawl you wouldn't have to worry about the ship leaving without you if you drink too much ... the tour leader should be responsible for getting you back to the ship.

You will find that Victoria's downtown is quite small and compact so most of the pubs can be walked to except for a few where a $5 to $7 cab fare would be involved. Here is a list, the last two you would be wise to take a cab to:

We did this tour several years ago and had a wonderful time. highly reccod it. Great beer and appetizers and the ship won`t leave you. Great tour when you only have a short time in Victoria.:)
