azcruise Posted June 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2013 We are doing B2B Alaska cruises on the Sun, starting on Monday. We bought GTY cabins (just a few days ago) and we just got our cabin assignments for both cruises - different cabins... We were wondering if anyone knows the process for changing cabins in Whittier. We read a lot of threads regarding B2B, but they were not Alaska or not NCL. Our cabins are on the same deck, but on opposite sides of the ship. If anybody has done it, we would love to hear the process!
garycarla Posted June 12, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2013 First call in - they may not realize the B2B and might be able to get cabins together. Some of the process varies depending on where you depart from. So, the process could change - some ports do customs elsewhere and not in Whittier. No matter about all that, you can get the staff to help you move. In our experience (done it twice with other ports), it is easier to do it yourself. On the night before, meet the staff for each stateroom and let them know. They can work to get your "new" room clean earlier.
mickanddoe Posted June 12, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2013 that sounds like a pain in the butt.. why don't you call ncl and see if you can stay in the same stateroom.. don't hurt to try..
time2cruise1 Posted June 12, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2013 I would get to know your cabin steward and the one for the new cabin. You can have everything moved to the new cabin before you have to clear immigration. They can make sure you new cabin is made up first and may even help you move $$. Rare kjquilts Posted June 12, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 12, 2013 Think you have the answers on the b2b but I wanted to congratulate you on booking a wonderful cruise itinerary on a great ship. We're just back from the NB June 3rd cruise and were so jealous of those that were staying on for the return trip. Weather was very good- couple days with very short period of drizzle. Most days I'd say temp was high 50's low 60's. Glacier Bay Day - fabulous. Hubbard Glacier - when we were approaching it was so foggy you couldn't see anything. Just as we got close the fog lifted giving us beautiful views of the glacier. Our last Alaska cruise was round trip out of Seattle - - much prefer the Sun itinerary for the amazing views. The mountains are unbelievable. Important piece of advice - take and use mosquito repellant on the shore days. Ran into them on our Emerald Lake tour out of Skagway and also on the tour from Whittier to Anchorage and in Anchorage. Be sure to check out the Observation Lounge and the outside deck in front of it. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

We couldn't get the same room, but are just across the hall (more or less). We are excited to do the B2B - it was cheaper than buying flight from Phoenix to Vancouver and then another one-way from Anchorage to Phoenix!! One advantage to only booking 4 days ago!
