txjeffrey Posted June 13, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 13, 2013 Experts, Can you please tell me the most cost efficient way to get from Country Inn & Suites in Elizabeth, NJ to Cape Liberty? We are a family of 4 and will have one large 28" suitcase each. Our hotel provides free shuttle to/from the Newark airport, but they do not provide free shuttle to the port. Does anyone have a reputable car service or taxi company to recommend? We will also be returning to Country Inn & Suites after the cruise and would like to know the best way to travel into NYC for 2 days after the cruise. Many thanks for your help. 138east Posted June 13, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 13, 2013 Independent driver - 888-816-0973 - this is a budget choice - around $45-55 for the 4 of you. No web site - call 4-6 weeks ahead. Please provide more details as to where you want to go and what you are doing in NY and what days of the week you are doing it. There are many options. Train is $12.50/pp each way. There is a NJ Transit bus from Jersey Gardens Mall to Manhttan, but the schedule is slim. There is also a NJ Transit bus that will take you to Newark Penn Station where you can get Path to midtown or downtown NY for $2.25 or train to NY for $5/pp each way. Understanding your options is key, particularly if you are going to downtown Manhattan. Example: There's no point in paying to go to New York Penn Station on the train to turn around and take the subway downtown to the World Trade Center when you can take Path from Newark Penn Station to World Trade Center. Bottom line - you will have to choose among time, money, and stress.
