Is early seating better when you are at sea?

My husband and I always choose late seating, but our cruise Jan 2 to Hawaii will include 7 days at sea, so we chose early, It seems you will be on ship not in port so why wait until 8:30 to eat. My husband is not convinced this is a good plan, any ideas would be helpful, we still have time to change seating

My thoughts! My wifester is huge, she eats all day long, me, on the other hand, I drink!

 

 

Early seating just doesn’t cut it. she’s still too fat!

 

 

Late seating, she’s starting to look good, real good!

 

 

Of course, everyone is different!

We are always early seating by choice because during our normal life we don't eat dinner late. We've found the 6:30 a nice time to eat then you have the rest of the evening to play. The shows are usually at 9:00 and then usually there's some kind of "competition" game afterwards. Then it's on to music, drinking, and dancing. If the show doesn't interest us, then a nice walk on the deck, or time in the casino is always nice. I'm an early riser in the morning, so by getting to bed before midnight I can watch the sunrise. Over the ocean they are rather spectacular and a cup of coffee and a sunrise is a pretty special thing.:D

Also remember that Hawaii does NOT do daylight savings time. usually the time difference between california and hawaii is 2 hours; during daylight savings time, the time difference is 3 hours.

 

personally, i prefer late seating since when in ports in hawaii, i always am off the ship for full day of activities. with late seating, i don't feel rushed after returning to the ship to prepare for early seating of dinner.

Early seating is always crowded. Therefore you have stressed out cooks as well as stressed out waiters & waitresses. Late seating is more slower paced so you receive better service and better cooked food.

We prefer late seating, although at home we eat early.

 

During the days there is always so (too?) much food, breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, sushibar at 6 pm etc., we wouldnot be hungry for early seating. And of course would then miss sushi.

 

Besides it seems the crowd is somewhat younger at late.

At home, I like to eat at 5:30 because I can get it out of the way and do other things, so I always choose early seating (6:30 is considered "late" to me). This past time, we didn't have a choice, so dinner was at 8:30, and it saved me! On this cruise, I decided to be good about exercising and really was. My time to exercise was some time between 5:00 to 8:00. Every day, either at 5:00 or at 6:00, there was a stretch class. I would either walk on the treadmill or do my strength training exercises (takes about 45 minutes) either before or after the stretch class. I was not able to do this exercising consistently at any other time. If we were out at sea, there would be activities I wanted to do. If we were at port, we'd stay out as late as possible. If I had early seating, I would not have exercised at all. Gained 10.5 lbs. despite the exercising... but within a week back, it all disappeared. That didn't happen the other time when I gained 7 lbs. It never came off until 2 1/2 years later when I joined WW.

 

Another advantage is that you don't need to rush to dinner on a port day. One night in Maui (2001), we missed our seating.
