RobandJames Posted June 16, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2013 I am sailing next week on Infinity. Can you tell me if the 2 bottle allowance for wine should be packed in your check in luggage or carried in our hand luggage? Many thanks Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
WestLakeGirl Posted June 16, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 16, 2013 If you have good wine bottle protectors you can put them in your checked luggage but its probably safer in your carry on. There are a variety of wine protection devices for sale but they are bulky and might take up too much room in your suitcases

Lsimon Posted June 16, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 16, 2013 You can do it either way. Generally, we prefer to carry our wine on board for two reasons: First is risk of breakage if it is in checked luggage. Second is that they scan all luggage. If during the scan they note the bottles but can't tell if they contain allowed wine or prohibited spirits then they'll divert your luggage to a security holding area rather than delivering it to your cabin and you'll be asked to come down and open it so they can see if it is wine or spirits. drarill Posted June 16, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 16, 2013 We always pack ours in the carry-on. We don't like to be called to the "naughty room" ;);) There is no way for them to know if you are carrying a bottle of wine or vodka in your check luggage. ;)
dln929 Posted June 16, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 16, 2013 Definitely in your carry-on especially if it's a nice bottle of wine. As a rule we never pack anything valuable in our checked luggage while travelling.
