cruise_pirate Posted June 20, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2013 Cannot find a whole lot of info on the Paradise. If you cruised on the ship what were your thoughts? Only info I got from a friend was, it was in bad need of repairs and renovations.
Tampa cruiser1963 Posted June 20, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2013 Cannot find a whole lot of info on the Paradise. If you cruised on the ship what were your thoughts? Only info I got from a friend was, it was in bad need of repairs and renovations. That is completely inacurate. The ship is in great shape and got hotel make over (carpet etc.) just a couple of years ago. She does not have the Funship 2.0 upgrades yet, and like the Elation did not get waterworks on the aft deck. Yes the Joe Farcus decor is out dated, but who really cares? I have sailed the Paradise twice with another coming up in two weeks. Of the three Carnival ships I have sailed, the Paradise has the best food and equal or greater service. cruise_pirate Posted June 20, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted June 20, 2013 Thanks. After posting this thread I saw a similar post. Sorry about that. But thank you for the info that makes me feel better! :). I am taking several couples along and it will be the first cruise for all of them. I was beginning to think I should have booked a different ship for a short 5 day trip. Sent from my iPhone 4s using Tapatalk
capcutie2002 Posted June 20, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 20, 2013 I loved the Paradise ship. It's my favorite Carnival ship so far. The employees on the ship are super friendly, the food was great, the ship was in great condition, and my vacation was perfect. I completely do not agree about the ship being in bad need of repairs. It is a lovely smaller ship. It also seems to frequently be in the top 5 ships list that John Heald posts on FB, which is based on the customer surveys. DarthGrady Posted June 20, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 20, 2013 Granted, I haven't been on her in a few years, but I thought she was a great ship. Definitely the nicest interior of any of the Fantasy Class ships I've been on. I also don't believe she's had the Waterworks added, so she'll still have the aft pool, which is one of my favorite areas on those ships.
cruise_pirate Posted June 20, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted June 20, 2013 Thanks for all the info! Feeling much better about this decision! It is hard to find any recent photos or info on this ship. Maybe due to the fact it is fairly new to the East coast. Lonnie
5soccer9 Posted June 20, 2013 #7 Share Posted June 20, 2013 We sailed on the Paradise last summer and loved it. I didn't have one complaint about the ship. For a smaller older ship it was wonderful. WE did the Chef Table on there as well and had a blast. Well worth it.

dulcimergirl Posted June 20, 2013 #9 Share Posted June 20, 2013 I liked the Paradise. Easy to get around, nice layout. I thought it was in excellent shape, and I did the Behind the Fun tour. They keep all area's of the ship in good shape. It is a smaller, Fantasy class ship, but she has class. Oh, the crew was very friendly and food and activities excellent. My only complaint would be the loud music just outside the casino every evening. Hurts your ears it will. I try to remember to bring ear plugs for this reason. Serenity deck is nice, with cozy shady spots along with sunny places. Very convenient to just run up the stairs to the Lido buffet and bar area. rolaur Posted June 20, 2013 #10 Share Posted June 20, 2013 Was on the Paradise this last New Years and loved it. Although a Fantasy class and smaller, she is very well kept and the crew was fantastic. The decor is very "Carnival" but that's to be expected. You will not be disappointed in her. We will be on her again this New Years as well!

tinkerbell_82 Posted June 20, 2013 #12 Share Posted June 20, 2013 All of these positive responses make me very very happy (we're getting married on her next April). We're actually doing a tour on July 13 as part of our wedding package to see the venues. I'm SO excited (but am going to be SO sad when I have to get off before she sails away!!) :)
Rare CruisinCrow Posted June 20, 2013 #13 Share Posted June 20, 2013 We were on Paradise over Memorial weekend. There's a link to my review with pictures in my signature. I didn't think Paradise was in bad shape at all. Yes, the decor is somewhat dated and "Farcus-y" but nothing looked worn. The ship was actually prettier than I was expecting. I liked the artwork and color-scheme. I found the ship to be really crowded but that may have been because it was a holiday weekend. We've been on Fantasy class ships before and I don't remember ever dealing with that many people and long lines. We had a great cruise. (Aside - Hi, Tinkerbell. We were on Monarch with you last year. Congrats on your upcoming wedding!)

Only info I got from a friend was, it was in bad need of repairs and renovations. We did the Paradise at the end of March and had a great time. There were seven of us, aged 7 to 62, and we were very pleased with the food, service and comedians.:D I never saw anything that was in need of repair or renovation and would not hesitate to sail on the Paradise again. Thanks for the insight! I was having thoughts the ship was going to look more like the Holiday. Don't get me wrong the Holiday was one of my all time favorites as far as fun goes, but was very dated and looked like it rolled straight out of the 70's. Thought I may run across the cast from Love Boat! :p

clearwatergirl Posted June 20, 2013 #21 Share Posted June 20, 2013 We sailed on the Paradise for the first time over Memorial Day weekend. While a smaller ship, I found her to be in fairly good shape. Some tired spots but overall, very clean and tidy. Missed the 2.0 upgrades but hey, I was on a cruise ship! :D I found the decor to be more subdued in comparison to other "joe farcus" designs. Lots of yellow and browns, warm colors. The atrium is beautifully lit at night. We thought the wait staff in the MDR was exceptional and our steward just OK. Room was always fresh and clean when you expected it to be. Nothing over the top with food, standard Carnival fare. We tend to shy away from the buffet area and eat in the MDR but found buffet food to be OK. Didn't experience any long lines. Entertainment was very good. Large stage area for such a small ship. Good production shows, enjoyed the punch liner club and various musicians throughout the ship during the 5 day cruise. We had an ocean view stateroom on deck 5. Found the configuration somewhat bothersome due to a large box in the corner under the TV cabinet that contained the life vests. Made it awkward to the guy who slept closest to the window. Oh, well, would look into a different stateroom for the next time. Overall, it wasn't a dissapointment and I would sail her again. Have a great cruise.:)

sjn911 Posted June 20, 2013 #24 Share Posted June 20, 2013 Paradise was my first Carnival cruise from Long Beach in 2009..I just think she is a beautiful little ship...food was good, maritime decor in some places very cool..the ship painting in the big main bar...so cool...the Library artifacts neat... The tea, the main dining room food and service..both great just great. The spa and all wonderful. Very quiet 1A I had on Empress..perfect. Big 10 top table in restaurant..wonderful..solos and couples..killer service..just before they changed things. I liked the shows too...and the shipsize,..and the families doing kareoke and watching Australia in that lounge one afternoon..i much preferred my 2009 trip on her over the Spirit in 2012 which really surprised me...Looking forward to someday trying her again..that is a nice size for service..Sarah
