New2Cruisin! Posted June 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2013  I am turning to the oh so knowledgeable cruise critic members for a problem I just encountered when calling the Ocean Players Club just now inquiring about any comps or deals I might have for our upcoming cruise. We were on the Star Princess last October to Hawaii (got married on it actually :) ) and spent a lot of money in the casino. We were getting sent strawberries, wine, etc. constantly. The casino host even mentioned to us that before we go on our next cruise we should contact the players club to find out about comps etc., that because we gambled like we did we would surely have some sort of comp. I've also been reading a lot on these boards about it as well. Well, fast forward to today. I called, not only was the person on the phone EXTREMELY rude, she said the casino host should never have said that and she had NO idea what I was talking about. She said that is NOT how it works. That it is computer generated and if it feels like sending you something it would. That they don't "look up" someone's account. I almost wanted to ask her if she was new or something because I was so baffled. Her answer goes against everything I've heard or read. She was so rude I just wanted to get off the phone before I spoke to her equally as rude. Am I misunderstanding something? Help!
sailor_jimc Posted June 25, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2013 The person you talked to is completely wrong. They will in fact look up your account. Your mistake was letting your call go through to the general pool of phone operators. There is only one person I know of working in the OPC and that is Michael Bonaya (sp?) call 800-522-7466 ext 16034. Don't bother talking with anyone else.. I called that number and didn't get through. Does anybody know of anyone else to call? The general casino # can't even look up my casino rate! They said I have to call Jen Martin who isn't in until Monday.
sailor_jimc Posted July 6, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 6, 2013 I am usually surprised when I do get through. I normally start calling a month in advance and try a couple times a day. Eventually you will get them to pick up. Great customer service right? If you waited to the last minute you may be S.O.L.
New2Cruisin! Posted July 7, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted July 7, 2013 I've still got some time, not sailing until November but I have to gear myself up for another phone call to them with the expectation of rudeness and no answers lol. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised this time!
New2Cruisin! Posted July 10, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted July 10, 2013 Just an update on my end. I got thru to a nice gentleman who looked up my and my husband's accounts with no problems. I'm getting 150 bucks casino credit and my husband has 125 bucks. I feel like I just hit a jackpot lol. Better than nothing! Thank you CC for informing me about this!:D
johnny75 Posted July 20, 2013 #8 Share Posted July 20, 2013 Recent call to the Players club for my next cruise offers yielded a $50 cash back on almost 8000 point on previous cruise! What happened to their generous offers of the past? It an insult that they treat players like any other guest. They are greedy. After this year, switching to NCL club. Lots of comps, cash, restaurant offers, free cruises. Carnival revamp your casino division!

Lots of comps, cash, restaurant offers, free cruises. Carnival revamp your casino division! My understanding is the Carnival now computes casino cash rewards based on your losses on your prior cruise. In the past I believe they computed based on your level of play. I will continue to sail Carnival if it is an itinerary I want or a ship I want (sailing in December on the Breeze to Aruba), but if you look at my recent history, you will see I have been giving more of my business to NCL. Just booked another free NCL cruise today.
swetra Posted August 2, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 2, 2013 I emailed and got minimum casino cash offered, then the next week I called and spoke to a different person and got the same minimum casino cash offer. :( They seem to think that they don't need to give us anything else since we booked our 2 cruises using our nice casino discount. :D I just visited the Ocean Players website and requested our win/loss statements from our last cruise. When I get those I may call back and try again. I hope the next time someone actually listens to me. ;) I'm definitely going to make sure the casino manager on our next cruise rates our table play this time. I'm thinking that's how we got screwed last time.
Kimster Posted August 10, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 10, 2013 I have cruised at least 10 times as a member of the Ocean Players Club. While the comps have never been great, more recently, they are horrible. I am cruising next week with Carnival. Offered $100 at cage and a deluxe VIP Bon Voyage package and I am paying for my room. Received a letter from a casino host at Royal Caribbean/Celebrity after I booked this cruise. She is offering any cruise for taxes only. She said I was free to refer other gamblers. Email me if you want more information. Kimster@Tampabay.rr.com This is my last cruise with Carnival. Kim
99Cruiser Posted September 27, 2013 #12 Share Posted September 27, 2013 Can you guys give me an idea of what limits you are playing and what you get comp? I'm a blackjack player and usually bet a min of $50 per hand and up to the table limit of $300 and play usually at least 3 to 4 hours per day.
