Rare Kellie in Texas Posted June 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 25, 2013 I know I've seen a post about this SOMEwhere, but can't find it now. We're on the July 1 Triumph (to Progreso and Cozumel). We have AT&T cell phones and DS has a twitchy texting finger. :D At what point do we need to turn off his phone to avoid additional charges for the bazillions of texts he sends and receives each day? Just put it in airplane mode and you'll be fine. You can still use your smart phone for games, camera, etc. but nothing will come in or go out. I turn mine off when we begin to sail out of port. If you go to a US port like Key West or Puerto Rico you can turn it on if you want to and check messages, etc. But, I just leave it on Airplane mode till we return.:)

Texas_Diver Posted July 15, 2013 #7 Share Posted July 15, 2013 Our December cruise will be my first cruise since 2008. At that time, I didn't have a smart phone so my phone was....well, just a phone. But now, it's used for lot of things. I plan to put it on airplane mode immediately after boarding but continue using it for an in-cabin clock/alarm. D.
