Taxi ship to VCE

Hi,

Is it a good idea to pre-book a taxi from the ship to VCE?? We don't want to take the shuttle bus.

Is there a long line up for taxi's? I am wondering if it would be better to have a driver waiting. I have heard (and read) horror stories about the VCE airport........so I want to leave promptly from this ship.

Any experience or advice?? Gracia..............

We took Sun transfer. A little less expensive than taxi but need to prepay.

The driver was right there after we picked up our luggage.

We have disembarked early (approx 7.45-8am) on a couple of occasions and got straight into a taxi for the trip to VCE. No difficulty at all.

We arrived on Grand Princess to not 1 taxi at the queue on the pier.

 

Princess had called me to inquire as to my mode of transfer, and told me there would not be any taxis, that I would either have to walk or pay them $24 for transfer to Piazzale Roma.

 

Later I saw discussions on this board, that if there is not an Italian line (MSC or Costa, etc) there would be no transport on the pier.

 

I would pre-arrange a taxi, JMHO.

We were picked up at 8:15 and I don't recall seeing any taxis, at least not where we met our driver.
