Character breakfast

Hi , we are sailing disney magic from Barcelona on the 4 night .

I keep reading about character breakfasts but can't find much info . Is this a chargeable extra , if so how much , is it likely to be on the 4 night sailing and most importantly is it worth it ?

Thanks in advance

The post above is correct. We had two sea days on our 7-night Med cruise and did not have character meals, so there would not be any on the 4-night cruises.

Because each dining room holds 1/3 of the guests for each seating time, it is necessary to have 3 days on which the character meals can be held. So as not to interfere with excursions, these are sea days or days with later port arrivals.

Yes, this is set up for cruises with multi sea days. You will be scheduled for the character breakfast along with your table mates for a specific time and day. You will find the tickets (as a reminder) showing the date, time, and restaurant. This event is included in the price of the cruise. Normally, at the Disney parks, the charge for this type of event is $35.00 per person.

The characters go from table to table in order to have the opportunity to have pictures taken.

As above, character breakfasts are on Magic and Wonder cruises where there are either 3 sea days or 2 sea days and one day with a late port arrival (noon or later), so the morning counts as a sea day. This is needed in order for each family to have a spot!

There is no charge for the character breakfast nor any reason to make a reservation--your date and time are based on your dinner rotation and there will be a reminder ticket in your stateroom or given to you by the head server. In addition, you'll get a verbal reminder from your serving team.

There is no way that the character breakfast on the ship is comparable to that in the parks. There are way too many tables for the characters to visit and the experience is much diminished from that in the parks.

Thanks everyone ,

That's a shame . We paid for the disney junior character lunch at wdw and they were very well organised . O well , just had to wait in line for hours , as my daughter will be character mad .

just make sure that you check your personal Navigator each evening for the next day's scheduled character appearances - it should list which character will be out at what time and where you can find them. We were on the Transatlantic last month and got to see plenty, but all the sea days helped.

We experienced the opposite as to what the previous poster stated. Each character stopped by our table. We were able to take pictures from our personal cameras and two professional pictures with each character taken by the photo gallery staff.

One of our table mates stated that it was the same as the breakfast at the park but without the extra fee.

We found that the lines to meet the characters went very quickly. Hope you have the same experience.

Our character breakfast was 4 weeks yesterday and there NO Shutters staff to take pictures, just our own camera. Altho' I wouldn't say they were very rushed, we did get the feeling that the character handlers were trying to get them around all the tables as quick as they could and the loud speaker message at the beginning did request one photo per family for speed. Our photo's weren't great as the character handlers didn't seem to take much care to hold the camera properly, but this was the same for quite a few other character photo's on the ship. We did purchase the Shutters CD and all the photo's in 8 x 10" and 6 x 8" for $475 which compared to other cruise lines was a bargain, as we got 593 photo's from 2 weeks and there was only 2 of us.

That's a shame. We were on board the Magic. Maybe since it was a smaller ship things are ran differently. As I mentioned before, the staff from Shutters took two pictures with each character per family. We could also take pictures with our own camera or hand the camera to a staff member.

Again, what a shame.

Of course that is the perspective from us the adults.

The little ones, man the look on their faces as the characters came by and gave them hugs, high fives are, in my opinion, priceless.

DCL is not our first choice for our cruise line. Having said that, we would not hesitate to sail with them again if we were to find an itinerary that fits us.

We sailed out of Galveston. We always wanted to go to Key West and the Bahamas. The Magic stopped at Castaway Cay and Key West. As an added bonus, we also stopped at Port Canaveral and an all-day pass to Magic Kingdom and the other parks was included with the cruise. While talking to the ship's doctor, he explained that the last time they had done this particular sailing, they experienced torrential rains all day long in Orlando (Kissimmee) so it was not as memorable for the guests.

It was supposed to rain while we were at Castaway Cay. Luckily, the rain missed us.
