RIvacationgirl Posted June 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2013 We have a group of 11 people who would like to dine together the first night on the Dawn. How do we make an arrangement to dine together?
Demonyte Posted June 30, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2013 First night is usually a bit quieter in the MDRs so you probably can just go there. If you want to make sure, send someone to the choosen MDR to talk to the Maitre'd just after opening to discuss about the time (they might say that you can only make a reservation to specific times, possibly outside the peak hours). Also, if anyone is staying in a suite, call to the concierge gets the job done nice and easy.
eiffeltower07 Posted June 30, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 30, 2013 The restaurant reservation desk/extension will accept reservations for the main dining rooms if 8 or more.
rvsullivan Posted June 30, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 30, 2013 Remember, first night is lobster night and can get busy. Usually they want large groups either early or late for the MCR's. Check in with them as soon as you board.
RIvacationgirl Posted July 1, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted July 1, 2013 Thank you for the tips. We have never traveled with a group anywhere so this will be quite an adventure!:)
Barb Nahoumi Posted July 1, 2013 #6 Share Posted July 1, 2013 The larger of the two MDR's is open for lunch, at embarkation time. That would be a good time for you to have a relaxed lunch, and speak to the Maitre'D about your request. Have a wonderful trip.
DawnofAquarius Posted July 1, 2013 #7 Share Posted July 1, 2013 Two years ago, I sailed on the Dawn with a group of 18, and we spoke to the Maitre D in the Venetian at lunch about dining together the first night. Since it is lobster night, the MDR is busier, but they were able to accommodate us easily by splitting us into 2 groups at neighboring tables. We put the kids (ranging from 14-6 years old) at one table, and the adults at another and everyone was able to enjoy themselves. (For those who don't think kids can behave themselves at a separate table, please know that all the kids were so well-behaved that 2 other parties seated nearby stopped on their way out to compliment them on their behavior--the threats that they would never see anything fun for the entire cruise if they didn't behave must have worked!) My husband and I do enjoy going to the MDR for our first lunch, so this will work out great!:)
