Jet Ski/Personal Watercraft Rental

The place In St. George's by the gas station at the end of Water St. is Wet and Wild. We rented there last week. The advertised cost is $120.00 for 1 hr. 15 min. on a tandem(2 people on one 700 cc Polaris). When they add in charges for Gas(6.00 a Gal.), taxes, and a automatic 15% gratuity, it comes to $145.00. One person on the same unit will be about $20.00 cheaper. Watch out for the guides who will ask for a tip at the end of the trip although it's already included.

Was this a group tour or were you allowed to go out on your own? If it was a tour how many people in the group and did you feel restricted by the others (i.e. forced to drive slow and with everyone else)? Also, if this was a tour do you or anyone know if any of the beaches have rentals for shorter times that you can do on your own?

My husband and I recently rented a motorboat from Blue Hole Watersports, located at The Grotto Bay Beach Hotel in Hamilton Parish. It was $120.00 for 4 hours plus gas. We used 3 gallons of gas. Although, gas is $6.25 a gallon, they only charged us $5.00 a gallon. Total cost was $135.00.

We drove the boat under the Causeway into Castle Harbor. We went along the Tucker's Town area and looked at all of the "rich and famous" homes. My husband did some fishing. Blue Hole will provide fishing gear for you, as well as a cooler with ice and snorkling equipment. We had to bring the bait.

Then we went to Castle Island where there is good swimming and a beautiful beach. We swam, did some snorkling, and explored the island. We saw a sign that did say "beware of dogs" but we did not see any. We had the whole place to ourselves. No one else was there.

Upon returning the boat, we were invited by the employees of Blue Hole to go ahead and hang out at the Grotto Bay and swim in their pool and check out the 2 caves they have on site. They also had a fish feeding area that my husband gave the left over bait to.

It was the best day we had on the island and when we do it again we will rent the boat for 8 hours instead of 4.

It was a group of 8 family members on 3 double units and 2 singles, along with another couple on a double that made up our group. We got a short orientation concerning safety and learned some basic hand signals that were going to be used, before be set out. We were escorted by a tour guide the whole time(we were told everywhere that we tried to rent, that it is illegal without a local guide). They take you all around the island of St. George's. The guide leads the way and you follow. There are plenty of opportunities to go full throttle once in open waters. I got my Jetski completely out of the water many times. The only negative, is that the guide will slow down the group, when the slower riders get too far behind the pack. This happened 5 or 6 times during our time period.
