Portland Microbreweries/Pubs

From my research, I understand Portland has quite a number of microbreweries. My husband and I will be in Portland in late July (Enchantment) and were wondering if there were any brewery or pub tours available?

Yes, there are a lot :)

 

One that offers tours daily is Shipyard Brewing. Free of charge. Their website is http://www.shipyard.com. Allagash Brewing also offers tours, scroll to the bottom of this page: http://www.allagash.com/news.html.

 

There are more but thought you might want just a couple for now.

We are really lucky to have so many microbrews in our area. Every restaurant in the area serves one these. In fact you can pick up six packs of many of our local brews at any convenience store in the area.

 

I won't drink anything but. Gritty's is a brewpub right in the Old Port near the ship terminal. You'll need a taxi to Geary's, http://www.gearybrewing.com/pages/home.php but it isn't too far. Shipyard, which was meantioned by sierrachick is only a few blocks from the port.

I second the previous poster. Gritty's is the best! Doesn't hold a candle to Shipyard.
