Caribe Hilton or Embassy Suites

I am looking at these two hotels for our 2 night pre-cruise stay in San Juan. Trying to decide which hotel to choose?

Which hotel would you recommend?

Which hotel would be closer to Old San Juan?

Do you recommend the Lagoon Villa or main hotel for the Caribe?

I can't answer your question, but we are staying atthe Embassy Suites for our upcoming cruise in 37 days. :D:D:D

We've stayed at the Caribe numerous times - at first we did the tower rooms, but now only do the villas. We opt for a villa room overlooking the lagoon, facing the Conrad and bridge, with a mini French balcony. The villas have a small, very quiet pool area, too. The villas have their own "front Desk"entry that exits onto a side street by the parking garage and it's a quick walk around the corner to the bus stop. You can take the bus into OSJ, exact change on the bus. The bus takes you to the main bus terminal across the street from one of the forts. If you want to take the HOHO trolley around OSJ, they begin their route just outside of the transportation center.

 

The villa rooms have an open air corridor system, with tropical plants outside the walk way. In the area around their pool, is a multitude of ducks, peacocks, swans and a pond/water feature loaded with huge koi. From the villa court yard, you can follow the path along the water, walk past the children's play area [cute], and either lounge in a hammock under the trees or sit on one of the beds facing the ocean.
