WDW Princess 71 Posted July 6, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2013 Is it worth it to pay the 10 euros/pp to visit the inside of the Monte Carlo casino? We will be there next weekend & I can't decide if its worth the price. How much do you really see? Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

WDW Princess 71 Posted July 6, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted July 6, 2013 Your going to Monte Carlo when is a just a dream to most and your worried about spending 12 bucks  Seriously? I'm asking for real advice, not sarcasm. Um yea, I've worked hard and saved for this big trip to Europe for a long time, so if that makes me weird for wanting to get the most bang for my buck, and not throw away money on things that aren't worth it, then so be it. Isn't that the whole point of these boards and trip planning in general, to get advice and try to plan as best as you can, with only so much time & money, to pick and choose the best things to do? Sheesh.
Rare Hlitner Posted July 6, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 6, 2013 Personally, we would not waste 10 cents or 3 min of our time going to the casino. But I am sure you will find others that love it. So where would we be? Hmmm. Eze Village, Nice (Flower Market and old town), St Paul de Vence, Cap d'Antibes, etc etc. In other words, DW and I would be anywhere but in Monte Carlo. cberge Posted July 6, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 6, 2013 Hank and I disagree about MC,but yes, I would spend the money just to walk into the place and look around. It is very elegant, and I thought fun to see. There is a dress code...not sure what it is anymore. If you want to gamble a bit go into the American Casino right next door,no charge and fun to lose or win a bit.I have spent some time in the area(back in the day)and really enjoyed getting to know the area. I didn't mean it as that way... what I am saying is the opportunity to visit an such iconic place half way across the world and debate if your are going or not because of 12 or 13 dollars shouldn't be a big concern. We are talking the cost 1 one drink on the ship.

As mentioned I love Monaco/MC area, but I stayed in Menton for a bit and habenn there on cruises as well so I would miss a chance to go into the Casino. We have also stayed in that city and enjoyed it very much. But for us, Monte Carlo is a place to drive around or through without stopping unless we need a bathroom :) Hank

travellingshoes Posted July 7, 2013 #10 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Speaking of using the bathroom, that's exactly what I did in the MC Casino when I was there. I did not pay, just walked on and found a restroom and then left. I got to be inside the lobby for a minute, and the restrooms are really state of the art, actually. And then I left. :). So, I can now say I've been there, and inside, but yet I spent my time and money elsewhere. To each their own, right?
