Questions about BYOB...of wine

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I have a couple of questions concerning bringing a bottle or two of wine from home. I understand that we can carry one bottle per person and we can have it opened at dinner for a $10 corkage fee per bottle. I am in no way trying to smuggle anything or break any policies or procedures so please no lectures.

Here are my questions...

Do I turn my bottles in to someone and they make their way to the dining room?

Or do I take the bottle with me to dinner?

Since I will be the only one consuming wine and there is NO way I will finish the entire bottle during the course of dinner will the wait staff re-cork it so that I may finish it the next evening? Or will it just be disposed of?

Any insight into the particulars will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

We brought ours to the MDR and put it on the table. They will open it for you. Sometimes they charge the corkage fee and sometimes they don't.

And yes - if you don't finish it, they recork it and mark it with your name. The bottle will be waiting for you on your next visit to the MDR.

At least that has been my experience.

You would take the bottle to dinner with you on your first night. If you do not finish the bottle, then yes, the waiter will re-cork it and save it for you for the next night. You can also open the bottle in your own cabin, and bring a glass with you to dinner instead, and save the corkage fee.. Its up to you.. some people bring the bottle to the dinning room, others just poor a glass and bring it with them and avoid the fee. Of course you would want to pack your own cork screw then, to open it in your cabin
