Halifax shops open on Sunday?

I just realized our Halifax day is a Sunday. We were planning on browsing shops and trying to find the restaurant my husband and boys ate at several years ago. Will the shops be open on a Sunday?

Here is a link that might help you. More shops will be open during peak tourist season, May to Oct than the other months. Of interest Sunday shopping was banned in all of Nova Scotia until 2006.

Most banks will be closed on Sunday . TD Canada Trust has limited opening hours on Sunday.

Any recommendations for unique shops or interesting souvenir items in Halifax that we can find by walking from the port?

 

I have been collecting Christmas ornaments from places we visit so will want one there as well.

 

Any ideas of what the restaurant would have been there near the port? They raved about the fish and chips.

 

I will definitely have an Alexander Keith's or two. I remember trying to find that beer when we got back to the states to no avail. I will enjoy it again while I can. ;)

If you walk from the ship along the boardwalk, you will pass a number of touristy, gift shops and several sell Christmas decorations.

There are wonderful little shops right in the cruise terminal. On Spring Garden Road, Jennifers only sells products made in Nova Scotia.

There is a mouth blown glass shop, called Nova Scotia Crystal right along the boardwalk. And Murphy's on the water has a big souvenir shop :)

Also, the Alexander Keith's brewery is downtown and they do tours there.

Most everything is open. Except banks of course. We went to the Maritime Museum and The Citadel. Beautiful port. There is also a "farmers' market" at the pier. Great food and some interesting locally made items. Have a great time!
