Taxi rates

Two questions:

 

What are the current taxi rates at the pier. We are going to paradise beach/down/pier.

 

Are the rates different if you walk out the street and grab a taxi.

 

I'm not looking to hire one for the day.

Two questions:

 

What are the current taxi rates at the pier.

1) Which pier are you docking at? Punta Langosta in town (NCL), International (RCCL) or Puerta Maya (Carnival)

We are going to paradise beach/down/pier.

I assume this means you want to go from your pier, to paradise beach, paradise beach to downtown, then downtown back to your pier? So rates for 3 cabs rides.

 

Are the rates different if you walk out the street and grab a taxi.

 

I'm not looking to hire one for the day.

The pier you are docking at would help answer your question or give you a link to taxi rates from your pier.

Saw no mention of which ship or pier in your question nor an upcoming cruise in your signature.

I will be on Carnival so it should be Puerta Maya as my start and end point. We plan to go to Paradise Beach first, then down town and back to the ship.

From the pier to Pardise Beach should be about $15-16+tip for up to 4 passengers in the cab; about the same or a bit more to go from PB to downtown, depending upon where you want dropped off. About $7-8+tip should get you back to your pier. About $50 in small bills ($5s, $10, and $1s - cab drivers around the world never seem to have any change when you want to pay with $20s :() should be enough for all three trips.

Should give you rate from Downtown to Paradise Beach and Downtown to Puerta Maya pier....

We tried to get a cab on the street just outside the terminal and our driver asked us to go back to the terminal parking to get one as they are not allowed to pickup directly outside (he mentioned a fee to be paid to the terminal). I guess that is a taxi union thing to control the prices charged from the pier???
