Cabin Assignment on Busy Sailings

I booked a balcony guarantee on Nieuw Amsterdam for the first time last week for travel 6 weeks time in the Med. I know there is no accurate rule as to when cabin assignments are made, but I do have a specific question:

Are cruises that are FULL likely to allocated guarantees earlier or later?

As my cruise is a summer departure from Venice, it's likely to be very full. Our last one was at 100%.

No. Our assignment for the N.A. came at 11 days out, and the ship was sold out 3 months before. (This was the inaugural season, 2010). Before they can do assignments on your cruise they must take care of the ones before you.

Do you mind if I ask what category you booked and what you got allocated?
I booked H guarantees for ourselves and my DB and DSiL. At 11 days out we were given a C and them an E. At 3 days out we were re-assigned to V8057 and them to VE5122. Biggest upgrade we ever got!
