Al-kee-hol and how to pay for it!

Hubby and I are going on our first cruise in September on RCCL Empress of the Seas. Needless to say, the Caribbean just isn't the Caribbean without a foofy rum drink with an umbrella and large pieces of fruit sticking out of it (and I intend to have a permanent, five day "fruit buzz" :p ).

Can you prepay for alchohol? Can you charge it to SS? Do you pay cash? None of the above? All of the above?

Enquiring minds want to know!

Thanks,

Rocket J

I think you can "pre pay" on your sail & sign account, too. & if it's not backed by a credit or debit card, they'll let you know if they want more $$$. On Carnival you can check your account on the "fun vision" to see how many more foo foo drinks you can order. p.s. they have a "drink of the day" that is cheaper - make sure you ask for a regular glass unless you want to pay for the "souvenir" glass.

Don't worry, they come by and ask several times. Once you order, they atart returning to you. You can put down a bunch of money on your sign and sail card and back it up with a CC. You can check how much you are spending anytim but going to the Front Desk. They will give you a print-out or if you are smart save the little receipts they give you and add it up every night. Average cost of a drink is about $5-$7. If you have 10 drinks a day that is $50-$70/pay x number of days cruising. A bottle of wine starts at around $25.00/bottle on up. You also need to add a 15% gratuity.
