Rare bluejay555 Posted July 21, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2013 Ok, I did a search on Corona beach, but most info is old. Anyone been there recently and can give me an idea of what to expect? It will be the first time my two little girls have seen the beach (I have nachi cocom booked for the next day, so I'm betting that will be the better beach experience!). So anyway, we are planning on just walking to corona beach and letting them swim and play in the sand, and then take the double decker tour and do some shopping. Is this a good plan? A safe area? I feel like a rebel not booking an excursion through the ship lol
clackey Posted July 22, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2013 If the kids can walk 2 blocks there is no need to book tour. The shuttle bus will take you to the straw market. The market (mercado) and beach is only a couple of blocks away. You can walk dowñ the main street (malecon) and take your pick of places to loaf. You can have food and drink served right there on the beach. There is plenty of shopping.

CENTEX CRUISER Posted July 23, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2013 First of all, you will be safe. If you have not been there, Progreso's water is not the prettiest in the world. It is night and day difference from Cozumel. The double decker bus is a fun thing also.
Rare bluejay555 Posted July 24, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted July 24, 2013 Thanks! Yes, I have been told not to expect a beautiful beach and then I won't be let down :) It's all good!
mccbeh Posted September 13, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 13, 2013 Corona beach is right at the end of the pier...it's a typical low cost low quality beach club sponsored by Carnival. Just walk along the coastal walkway, you will find plenty of other beach restaurants with swimming opportunities.
