Atlantis Comfort Suites Review

We arrived in Nassau this past Tuesday morning on the Majesty of the Seas expecting to spend the entire day exploring Atlantis. We were excited that we had learned on this board about the Comfort Suites and had pre-booked a room. We are a family of two adults and two teens so the 4 wristbands would work out nicely and saving about $100 instead of doing the RC shore excursions sounded great!

We woke up and realized it was POURING down rain! POURING! We ate breakfast and when it let up we got off the ship and caught a taxi ($4 pp) to the Comfort Suites. You can't officially check-in to the room until 3pm but they let us "pre-register". They gave us a voucher for the wristbands which you have to redeem in the Royal Towers right next to The Dig Aquarium. This requires a walk out the back of the Comfort Suites and all the way through Royal Towers casino to get to the wristband desk. The lady cheerfully placed the wristbands on us and told us the park had just been closed due to weather and they were uncertain when it would reopen. UGH! We toured The Dig Aquarium killing time and then grabbed a bite to eat at Plato's Lounge ($75 for 4 sandwiches, 4 sodas and a fruit cup). After two hours of waiting next to the Aquarium where everyone was huddled the park still had not opened so we trekked back to the ship in the pouring rain and it didn't stop raining until after the park closed.

We did not get to ride one ride and our two 17 year olds were BUMMED! We were also bummed that the Comfort Suites was a non-changeable non-refundable reservation. Unfortunately we gambled and we lost. From what we understood the folks who booked through RC were able to get refunds.

Oh well, lessons learned. Just something to consider for future travelers.

So SORRY! Sometimes during the summer it does rain big time in the Bahamas, had the same happen to us in May... 50MPH winds and raining sideways. We had planned to go to Sandals (just me and the wife) but you cannot pre-book it so thankfully we just blew that off and spent the day in the Serenity deck hot tub!

Sorry to hear about your experience. It's too bad they wouldn't give you a room when you checked-in at the Comfort Suites.

My first time to Nassau (Majesty), it was pouring rain. I had booked the Aquaventure through Royal Caribbean. They let us downgrade to the Discover Atlantis tour, and difference in price was refunded to my sea pass account. While on the tour, it stopped raining. I decided not to upgrade back as time was limited.

It would be two years before I would go back to Nassau. The weather was good and got to enjoy Atlantis Aquaventure. Been a few times since, last time staying at Atlantis for a few days right after Hurricane Sandy. It was still very windy. Aquaventure was open, but the wind was blowing against the Current of the "lazy" river. Looking forward to going again in October on Majesty.

I am sorry for your terrible luck. Thank you for the report.
