Rare mitsugirly Posted July 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 25, 2013 So last December we cruised out of NOLA and you fine people on here helped me find a hotel (because our favorite we stayed in prior to this cruise was Drury and they more than doubled their price). Everyone told me about LMT and I was able to compare the pictures and find out which hotel it was...which was a hotel that others on here suggested as a nice hotel and close to the port. This hotel was Springhill Suites. This hotel actually ended up as a very nice hotel and pleasantly surprised us (more than what the pictures lead us to believe). Well, we are going back to NOLA for another December cruise and now I can't find Springhill on there at all. I'm guessing they may have pulled their listing from this site? Are there any other suggestions that people know of on LMT that is worth checking in to? Or any other hotels in the area worth checking in to? I did look at Drury and the prices have come down some (well a lot) since last year around this time...but still not as cheap as they were before (or as cheap as Springhill). I know another option that I was really considering was the Wyndham Riverfront...but of course it's not located on LMT anymore either. Any help would be appreciated

Singer4Him Posted July 27, 2013 #8 Share Posted July 27, 2013 Along the same lines as this thread, I'm looking for a Comfort Inn & Suites that's relatively close to the port but I'm not sure which one that would be. Can anyone give me an idea of which one it might would be?
Granny1 Posted July 29, 2013 #9 Share Posted July 29, 2013 With having never been in New Orleans and with doing some research I am finding it really confusing in locating a hotel for one night before our cruise. I don't need a upscale hotel but would appreciate a clean hotel. We are flying into NO so need to figure out how to get to the hotel, then to the pier the next day then back to the airport when the cruise is over.. Do a lot of the hotels downtown or at least close to downtown have continental breakfasts? I am not seeing it in their descriptions.. I sure don't see any shuttles in their descriptions either. I did find a couple of hotels near the airport but they are pretty far from the port. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated..;)
rvsullivan Posted July 29, 2013 #10 Share Posted July 29, 2013 Very few of the downtown hotels have breakfast included. Airport to downtown and back is a flat $35 for two. Hotel downtown to pier is $7-9 for two. There are no free shuttles in New Orleans. Drury Inn is very popular but is under construction right now. Still taking bookings though. They do have free breakfast. Any of the major hotel chains downtown are good. Anywhere from $100-300 per night.
Rare mitsugirly Posted July 29, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted July 29, 2013 Drury is a beautiful hotel and they not only offer a free breakfast, but it's a hot, real breakfast. They also have a late night small dinner and free soda and alcohol drinks, which makes this a popular place. When we were there, their free breakfast included things like eggs, biscuits, sausage, gravy, plus your normal cold items, cereal, bagles, toast, muffins. It was quite filling and a great way to start your cruise morning. The evening "dining" is called their "kickers" meal. They had hot dogs, mac and cheese, nacho bar, baked potato (with fixings), veggies and dip, salads, snacks, popcorn, and a soda fountain for drinks, all unlimited. Yea, it's not anything fancy, but it hit the spot and it kept us from having to spend a lot of money to go out to eat. Along with the kickers meal, each adult gets 3 coupons to use that night on free alcoholic drinks. So, Drury is a great choice and the hotel is beautiful with excellent service. It is located on Poydras, which is the main street that if you walk down to the end of it, you are right at the Hilton, Harrah casino and to the left is the riverwalk. It's within walking distance to everything. So the above posted mentioned they are remodeling??? Can someone tell me more about this? Because last year when we went to NOLA in December and was considering staying here, we were told they were remodeling then. How long does it take to remodel? Rare mitsugirly Posted July 29, 2013 Author #12 Share Posted July 29, 2013 Another place I can highly recommend is Springhill Suites. It's located in the Warehouse district and is right down the street from the port. It is another that serves a hot breakfast and it is really pretty inside there. The rooms here are also huge and like a mini-suite. They have a wall dividing the bedroom part and on the other side of the mini wall is the livingroom, which pulls out into a bed. Then a small "kitchen" area with a desk in case you brought your computer and a refrigerator, microwave and sink. This is the hotel that I was looking for on LMT. We only paid around $80 for this last year. I did discover that you can still find it on there, just not for the dates I was looking for because they are sold out. Sipsey Posted July 31, 2013 #13 Share Posted July 31, 2013 About a year and a half ago I went to a wedding in NOLA, stayed at the Hampton Inn at 226 Carondelet St. It was nice, it did have breakfast included, and is a couple blocks from the quarter on the other side of Canal St. It would be a fairly short cab ride to the cruise terminal from there. I would stay there again, no question. The breakfast is about the same as you find at most Hamptons, serve yourself from a bar of hot foods, cereals, fruits, etc. Keep in mind that most hotel rooms in New Orleans are not very large as the downtown area is fairly cramped and old. This Hampton is definitely not like the ones you see on interstate exits.

RobinSie Posted August 17, 2013 #17 Share Posted August 17, 2013 We booked a room through LMT for our October trip. Staying at Hilton Garden Inn Convention Center for around $83. If you call them, they will give you a better price than what you will get online. Like a previous poster said, they will also tell you the names of the hotels so you don't have to jump through the hoops. I will be checking this site first for all of our travel from now on. Hope you have a great trip!

I just don't want to be calling on each one and knew the one that I wanted and it wasn't coming up. :( (It was because they did not have any available rooms for the date I was looking for). We only fly maybe once or twice a year. I wouldn't call on every place. I always know the pictures of the places I'm looking to go to. It's just a matter of finding them on there and then calling to confirm. No way would I take the time to call and see which ones they all are. Yikes. :D Calling in isn't too new. I did it back in 2011.
