Obc

We had a lot of OBC so we had Celebrity take off the automatic service charge before we travelled. Then we re-instated on board at guest relations so it could be covered by our OBC. This used up quite a bit. Then by the time we had paid for decent coffees, a cocktail some evenings and some bits and pieces from one of the shops onboard we had used it all up.

Hi!

I have a newbie question re: OBC :o

We've never had an OBC before as we always booked through the cruise line. We were given an OBC for a cruise we booked through a TA (we're taking the cruise this week). We had planned on using it for the gratuities. Your comment sparked my interest. Are we not allowed to use the OBC for gratuities if they are pre-paid? I assume we would just call X to have it removed if that's the case (?)

Thanks for explanation from anyone...

The OBC from your TA is Refundable. Any that you don't use will be credited back to the credit card that you have on file. So, no problem with your pre-paid gratuities.

The problem is with OBC direct from Celebrity, which is Nonrefundable. Per the new Ts and Cs, the Nonrefundable OBC cannot be used as cash - either from the Casino or as deposits for new bookings made on board.

Can it be used to pay the gratuities? If you are not in select dining?

After reading this thread I called my TA to discuss my OBC with the agency. I found out mine is not refundable and I asked why. TA told me it depends if your OBC is part of a group a rebate, or a little bit of both. Mine was a little bit of both. Lesson learned so I thought I would pass it on.

I have $425 obc from my TA and $300 from celebrity 123Go, I want to buy the non-alcoholic package for my DD how do I make sure it comes out of the non-refundable obc? Should I withdraw my $425 asap before buying the drink package?

Last post I read awhile ago, you said you had $675 obc.

How did you manage to get it increased ?

I upgraded from an outside to a veranda (when there was a price drop) and was offered $50 more from my TA, so now have $300 from celeb and $425 instead of $375 from TA.

We just got back from a cruise where we had an OBC from the TA. I made the assumption that it was refundable as it came from the TA. When I got my statement the evening before departing, the OBC was listed as non-refundable. Needless too say, I did not get a refund. Thankfully, there was only a small credit remaining, but I now know to ask on day one if my OBC is refundable so I know if I need to spend it.

Love these $300 and $400 OBC awards from TA's. Last two years we booked with a large well known agency and got $300 for each 12 day Europe S Class Booking. About to put under deposit a 14 night s class Baltic with cabin total almost $8000 and just before giving my TA the CC number I asked how much the OB credit was and he tod me $50.... That's right. $50... Change in company policy. Needless to say I feel bad but I am taking my business elsewhere. That 8 grand is just the cabin, not to mention the Ir plus 10 day hotels he is booking for us. BTW we are getting $75 from him for our $2500 Allure sailing in November. What gives?

On all my past cruises, Celebrity has always given me cash (or credit my credit card) at guest relations the last evening of the cruise for the balance of any refundable credits. No fees assessed.
