Hilo: Helicopter and after

We keep changing our Hilo plans- so much to do and only one short day! We have decided that we really would like to do a helicopter tour. I have two questions:

 

1.) What companies would you recommend? Has anyone been on "safari tours"?

 

2.) Any ideas on what do do after? We are sailing on POA and will not have a car this day as we are figuring the helicopter tour will take up most of the day. However, we don't want to just hang out on the ship all afternoon. Anywhere that is an easy cab or a walk away? We would not mind if we had to walk a few miles.
