Dickinson Bay Beach

Anyone have thoughts about Dickinson beach? DH and I were planning on going to Hawksbill resort for a day pass but it would be less expensive to just go to Dickinson with the cruise line.

  • 1 month later...

We took the Carnival excursion there last December, and really enjoyed the beach. We're planning to return there again this year, but taking a taxi instead of the Carnival excursion.

It's long enough for nice long walks between beach bars, has watersport rentals and of course the beautiful water and views.

We took a cab there last November and are planning to go again this November. Beautiful beach and chairs were reasonable. Went in the morning and by lunchtime it was packed. The water was warm but not clear as the soft sand does kick up. The view is spectacular! There were locals peddling their goods but a polite "no thank you" prevented them from pestering you. The cab ride was not long at all and when we were ready to return we walked back to the drop off spot and caught a cab immediately. Don't recall the cost but it was reasonable. As with every self adventure as we call them... don't cut your return time to close as there are cabs who have agreed to fetch their morning fare and will pass you by. Enjoy!

If you're looking for max beach time Dickenson is the place. Very close to the ship, $3-4 per person cab ride. They have two nice snack bars there and a local that sometimes sets up a grill and makes chicken sandwiches. If you are looking for more privacy all you have to do is walk a short distance to your left facing the water and you can have a whole beach to yourself. Been to Darkwood and a few other beaches, now we head right to Dickenson.
