Even if you use the cruiseline's air package and fly in the same day as your cruise, you still have to claim your luggage at the airport. It used to be, before 9/11 that you could just check your luggage through to the ship but those days are long gone. We have booked a pre cruise hotel stay with the cruise line, with or without air, and they have transported out luggage to the ship for us. Even using the cruiselines air---you still have to collect your own baggage at the port and get it to the bus...
