SeattleCruiselover Posted June 30, 2005 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2005 It is OK for a motel. It is a few blocks from where I live (across the street from the Space Needle). No problems with being able to walk the streets, even at midnight, as long as you don't go downtown. In September, the weather is starting to cool off again (normally, but who knows this year), and the tourist season is starting to wind down, so crowds should be a little less than now. Go to Pike Place Market, do the Underground Tour, go up the Space Needle for the view, but not the food; take a ferry ride to Bremerton or Bainbridge Island; go to Tillicum Village if you have a little time and money to spare; visit the Hiram Crittenden locks (salmon might be running up the ladder then); take a day trip out to Mt. Rainier; consider the Spirit of Washington Dinner Traiin (again, if you have a little time and money to spare).
windermere Posted June 30, 2005 #3 Share Posted June 30, 2005 Hi! It looks like you are on the same cruise as us! The Northwest is beautiful in September. The weather always gets better when the kids go back to school. You might look into taking the ferry to Victoria Canada. The trip is a real treat. It will take up a whole day but is worth it. stan wood Posted July 1, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 1, 2005 You mention the sights of Seattle-but if you have a car and enjoy nature, I would suggest-(not necessarily in order) 1.) drive to Anacortes and take a ferry ride through the San Juan Islands 2.) drive the North Cascades Highway 3.) go over Cayuse Pass and time permitting, hike up some of the trails around Mt. Rainier. (be aware of weather conditions-improper dress can possibly lead to hypothermia as it gets much cooler as you rise in altitude) There are many things to do and it depends on your tastes. But plan ahead and don't waste your time sitting in a motel. Seattle is a pretty city-but you're only an hour from the mountains and Puget Sound is only minutes away. Do as much research as possible on the web and have a great time.
papadon58 Posted July 1, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 1, 2005 Additionally to the prior posts and if your into airplanes, you might consider The Musuem of Flight at Boeing Field and a tour of the Boeing Everett Plant, the largest bullding in the world. Also, the Ballard Locks which connect Lake Washington and the Sound.
