Sacewood Posted August 5, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2013 My mother and I are looking forward to our cruise next April onboard the Caribbean Princess. She loves to shop, good drinks as well as the beach so I'm a bit nervous as well as interested in what the big deal is about Beach Breaks. Bottom line, are the "all inclusive" excursions worth it? I could use some help here! Thanks!
bguppies Posted August 5, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2013 There is a bunch a beach clubs in Cozumel... All slightly different from one another to cater to every person's needs one way or the other. Depends on what your budget is, what you want to do, during your beach day (relax, party, snorkel, get a massage, play on jet skis, parasail, have waterslides and big kiddie pools, etc..) and if unlimited drinks, alcoholic or non alcoholic would be worthwhile to you. DW and I always go to Nachi Cocum on our stops in Cozumel. (our 5th time in April) To me Nachi Cocum is worth the $55, just for the 100 person per day limit. The 3 course meal, all you can drink and wonderful facilities are a bonus. Mr. Sanchos is very similar, but a little more lively than Nachi Cocum. (and right next door) Playa Mia has the same beach, but also has huge pools, a kiddie park, waterslides, etc... definitely kiddie friendly. Paradise Beach is similar, but has no people limit and is pay as you go... A cheaper day, but no guarantees on how crowded it can get. Chankanaab Park has dolphin swims and good shore snorkeling if you enjoy snorkeling. (the other parks being sandy have poor shore snorkeling) Pool and nice lagoon to swim in. Money Bar is near Chankanaab and has a rocky shore that is good for shore snorkeling. There are another half dozen or more clubs.. (the ones above are just the most popular.) Hope that helps.. If you are looking for the best day for your Mom, you just need to pick the club that would be the best fit for her temperment. Bill

(great for adult couples looking for a relaxing day) http://www.cozumelnachicocom.com/ Mr. Sanchos - right next door to Nachi- AI or not, a little more lively with music playing and livelier crowd. http://www.mrsanchos.com/mr_sanchos/home.htm Playa Mia - right near Mr. Sanchos - great for kids with waterslides, large kiddie pool, adult pools, etc... http://www.playamiacozumel.com/ Paradise Beach - no admission, but must buy $10 food pp to use beach chairs, pool etc.. Water toys for kids... http://www.paradise-beach-cozumel.com/ Chankanaab Park, great shore snorkeling, pool, dolphin excursions, etc.. http://www.cozumelparks.com/ Money Bar - free- great shore snorkeling, but no beach or other amenities. http://www.moneybarbeachclub.com/ Many other beach clubs to choose from. JohninDC Posted August 6, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 6, 2013 Nachi is well worth it! Plenty of shopping at the pier -- hit a few stores, do some shopping, then grab a taxi to Nachi, relax and pour a few dirty monkey's into both you & your mom! :D
Sacewood Posted August 6, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted August 6, 2013 Thanks for the great advice! There is so much involved with getting off the ship when tendering is involved. I want to make it as smooth as possible for her should she agree to try one of these "all-inclusive" options. I know I'm tempted. Good way to meet new people! JohninDC Posted August 6, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 6, 2013 Taxi cost to Nachi Cocum ? Taxi cost to Paradise Beach ? For up to 4 passengers in a cab, the cost to each should be about $16+tip (for the cab, not per person). Same fare gets you back to the ship. Good luck! :)

Tendering in Coz? For sure in Grand Cayman, but I doubt you will tender in Coz -- three different (but not far from each other) port areas; you'll just stroll off the ship in Coz. Good luck! :)
Sacewood Posted August 7, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) I'm new with this haha. Okay so Cozumel has an actual dock. Good to know! Thanks JohninDC Edited August 7, 2013 by Sacewood
bguppies Posted August 7, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 7, 2013 I'm new with this haha. Okay so Cozumel has an actual dock. Good to know! Thanks JohninDC Carnival has a dock, Puerta Maya, that holds 2 ships. RCCL has a pier (right next door), International, that holds 2 ships. The original pier, Punta Langosta, is back in town, and is primarily used by NCL. (and overflow for Carnival and RCCL) Not positive, but I believe, it also holds 2 ships. This link shows the 3 piers and where the beach clubs are. http://www.travelnotes.cc/cozumel/links/mapisland.php You can check which ships are in Cozumel on your day and see where you will probably dock. (the big ships in the Carnival and RCCL fleets usually get first dibs at their piers.) http://cruisett.com/content.php Odds are no matter what you wind up choosing, that you will have a great time... Good luck. Bill
aideek2000 Posted August 7, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 7, 2013 Your picture shows a younger person and what I'm getting from your post is that you want to drink and meet people at the same time keep your mom happy. If I were you I would go to Mr. Sanchos. Check website, tripadvisor reviews, and videos. If your mom is not into drinking, have her go ala carta, it may be cheaper. Many young people go there and is a good place to people watch. Another option I would consider is Playa Mia; I have never been there but it has reviews about being a place to party and maybe you can find a quiet lounge for your mom. Every time I take my mom we try to include a massage in the last port, ans is usually Cozumel. At Mr. Sanchos last time we were there was like $30 per 30 min. I think that is the going rate in the island. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Forums mobile app
Sacewood Posted August 7, 2013 Author #12 Share Posted August 7, 2013 Aideek, 37 here! I like to hang with my mom but getting her off the ship in the past has been difficult in the past. We will likely enjoy drinks together. A massage sounds perfect to top it all off!
aideek2000 Posted August 7, 2013 #13 Share Posted August 7, 2013 I forgot Playa Uvas, great place to snorkel, not that many people. My latest review is in tripadvisor and in this forum for the lady wanting to know what to do for the 4th time. Great place to spend the day, they also have a spa there for the massage, different price options. Not that many people, it is the place where you can read a good book or nap. Playa Uvas is perfect for me. Check it out just in case you want a more intimate place. Don't worry too much, I havent seen a place in Cozumel where I would mind spending my time. It is beautiful. maldenmusic Posted March 13, 2014 #14 Share Posted March 13, 2014 We lways enjoy Playa Palancar. Not AI, but no charge to use the beach and the food and drinks are reasonable. Quite, laid back, never crowded.
